Two lovers from rival packs. Have they come together only to be forced apart?
Alec Knight, a beta in the Regent's Park pack, guards his heart carefully. Ghosts from his past keep him alone and angry, any hope of a relationship impossible while guilt from the pack wars still haunts him. With the anniversary drawing near, Alec needs a distraction.
As a lowly member of the Primrose Hill pack, Mark Appleton isn't used to having his alpha's attention. Lately he's had more than his fair share, and not for the right reasons. Despite growing suspicions that all is not well, Mark tries hard to do better, but constant criticism leaves him desperate for a stress outlet.
Sex is a good way for shifters to let off steam, and while their packs attack each other with accusations and lies, Alec and Mark work out their frustrations in bed. Pillow talk and shared secrets lead to a closeness neither was expecting, but when pack relations reach an all-time low, any future for them seems out of the question.
If they want to be together, they'll have to go against their alphas' wishes - except Alec won't and Mark can't.
Contains mature themes.

Loved it!

I like more story driven titles and this has plenty of story to work through. I felt there was a small cop out toward the end, but I do believe that overall it was handled well.
I'm having trouble with the narrator because of two things that are similar. the first, all the females sound the same. this book is where multiple notable females are introduced and yet, they all have the same inflections and similar tones. Yes, he is not a woman, but hearing the lofty and lighthearted nature of his female voice impersonation did not change regardless of the character or the character's vocal intentions.
the other is that it's very strange hearing previous series characters in the audiobook. Since those characters are no longer on edge due to certain distrust or being on edge because wolf bonding emotions, all the previous (except Nathan) all sound the same, which is non-threatening and care-free which I assume isn't the total case for them. Their personalities from their main story have kind of evaporated.
Decent refresh

A few things I loved about the story...
They get a happy ending.
Alec seems like a butthead in the first two books but is redeemable.
Lots of action and nailbiying suspense
And the narration is fabulous. The tension is evident and I love the little growls and snarls.
Its great hurt/comfort, rival packs, blowing off steam, small town pnr romance with plenty heat.
Now I'm on to the next.
suspense and heat
