If you could be the first to lay eyes upon a planet orbiting a distant star, would you go?

If it meant that when you returned home—if you returned home—everyone you knew would have been dead for centuries, would you still go?

The members of the Polaris Project knew what they were giving up when they volunteered to fly to the star named Angel-21, but the allure of being the first explorers to leave the Solar System far outweighed the risks. As it turned out, the most dangerous thing they faced wasn't the mission...it was the homecoming. Eight hundred years have passed, and Earth is nothing like they thought it would be.

As Commander Markus Brentwood scrambles to uncover the mystery of what's happened to Earth in their absence, he also must contend with an increasingly dysfunctional crew and a damaged ship that's flying on borrowed time. What should have been a joyous return home after a long, hard mission has turned into a race to see which nightmare would kill them first.

Well developed characters and excellent story line with a compelling plot made this a most enjoyable sci-fi experience. I loved it! Book 2 please!

Original & Fascinating Story. Great Read!

Joshua Dalzelle delivers a fine adventure. I have enjoyed his Black Fleet stories immensely, and this one continues the trend. There is a bit of a "last survivor" quality to this one. That makes it a little predictable, but there were some nice little twists along the way. I really liked the poke at the real, human costs of jumping to conclusions. I also like that the story stands on it's own. I wonder if there is a viable sequel. All in all this was a pleasant saga and entertaining. Well worth the price.

entirely enjoyable!

it had a good mix of personalities but to me, it just fell a little flat. I feel everything went just as expected. it rather, it is so unfinished that it cant cut it as a novel and not interesting enough to continue as a series. boring but not so dull as to not finish.

I think just not my type of story.

Joshua Dalzelle and Paul Heitsch together can do no wrong, if you are an OF geek like me there is no not reading (listening to) this book. I like to think of it as Captain Burke in an alternate reality 🤷🏿‍♂️

Never once got boring
