Part of a small demon lair in Las Vegas, tattooist Harper Wallis lives a pretty simple life. That changes overnight when she discovers that her psychic mate, or "anchor", is a guy who's rumored to be the most powerful demon in existence. Compelling, full of secrets, and armed with raw sexuality, Knox Thorne is determined to claim her as his anchor, creating a psychic bond that will prevent their inner demons from ever turning rogue.

The billionaire also wants Harper in his bed. She's not so sure she wants either of those things. No one seems to know what breed of demon Knox is, only that he's more dangerous than anything she's ever before encountered. But he refuses to walk away. And when an unknown danger starts closing in on Harper, it seems that Knox is the only one who can keep her safe.

As Prime of his Las Vegas lair and a successful businessman, Knox Thorne is used to getting what he wants, and he wants Harper. He'll have her, and he'll keep her safe from the threat that looms over her. Because Knox protects what's his. He won't allow anyone to take her from him. Even if it will mean letting the demon inside him rise and wreak the havoc it was created to make. Contains mature themes.

The narrator sounds too much like a child for books like this. Listening to her is like I'm listening to a narrator for children's book. I often had to rewind because I would get caught up on the way she was talking rather than how the story would unfold. I read/listen to A LOT of paranormal romance such as Charlaine Harris, Dannika Dark, Jeaniene Frost, etc., and this has been one of the most difficult sex scenes to listen to because of how vulgar some of it can be and I may be a little too sheltered for that! lol I like to listen on my echo and I was glad I listened to this while my kids were at their dads this week because of how many there were.... I think if she would tone down on some of the sex scenes, focus more on the story, and get a different narrator, then this series might not be so bad. I still can't decide if I want to continue the series or not.

This was a great story! I loved it and was very happy with Harper and Knox as the MCs.

Harper is a demon and the co-owner of a tattoo parlor. Her mother abandoned her at birth and her father was a drifter who only took care of her because he was forced to. Because of this, Harper isn't big on relying on anyone and it's hard to get her to trust. This has also led her to only get involved with humans, thinking that humans are easily dismissed and not likely to risk her heart like a relationship with a demon might.

Knox is a demon that has risen to the heights of Prime (which is a leader over a group of demons). He was subjected to some bad stuff when he was growing up but he rose above it, drawing people to him with his strength until he found himself in a leadership position over an ever growing group of demons. Knox isn't known for passion and seems to care about very little...his bed mates never keep his interest for long.

The story beings with Harper and some of her friends at an underground demon playground. The underground has bars, restaurants, gambling establishments, fighting rings and many other things for the demon population to have fun with. Harper is watching the fighting but one of her friends has an issue that keeps her from fighting her scheduled fight so Harper ends up taking her place. What Harper doesn't know is that when she takes the fighting stage, she gets the attention of someone much more powerful than she would expect. Knox finds very little interesting nowadays but the minute he sees Harper, both him and his demon perk up and take interest. Their first meeting isn't long but it's long enough for them to realize that they're each other's anchors. A demon's anchor is another demon that is psychically tied to them. The bond doesn't get cemented unless both demons agree but since it not only helps them be more powerful but also helps them control their inner demon, most demons want the bond. Due to her past and not feeling like she could rely on anyone to stick around, Harper isn't very interested in forming the bond with Knox and makes that clear.

Knox normally isn't someone that's possessive but Harper being his anchor really brings out his possessiveness. The relationship between anchors isn't usually a sexual one but the sexual attraction between Harper and Knox is strong and hard to ignore. Harper is determined to ignore it...not that that lasts very long. Knox doesn't care what the "norm" is, he just knows he wants Harper and what he wants he gets. He does warn her that his demon tends to get bored easily so she's prepared for the sexual part of their relationship not to last. Thankfully, his predictions don't come true in her case and the more they're together, the closer they become and the less they wish to be separated. While they're trying to work on their bond/relationship, there are many things going on to keep things interesting. An old "friend" of Knox's wants to gain power over all the demons and is making waves in her attempt to gain that power. There's also danger aimed at Harper and there are multiple suspects to chose from. Things certainly stay busy and the whole story came together really well. Things do work out so that Harper and Knox end the story with a HEA.

I really enjoyed this story a lot! I loved Harper as a heroine...she was spunky, smart and kickass and I couldn't help but like her. Knox was cool...a bit bossy but he didn't feel the need to be a jerk and try to run all over Harper and mostly just pushed things in the bedroom (which Harper liked). This did end with a HEA (and wasn't cliffy at all) but Wright has continued stories that seemed to have ended (like the "Deep In Your Veins" series) before so I'm hoping (fingers crossed!) that this will be continued as well. This was a great story with wonderful characters. I'd highly recommend this story. 2 thumbs up! :D

* note - The narrator was alright but I didn't think her voice really suited Harper. It didn't ruin the audiobook but I do wish they had used a different narrator.

Great paranormal romance :D

Any time you start a new series, there is definitely an adjustment period to learn the characters and their new world; I understand that. That being said, this series hasn't sucked me in like the shifter series. Also, the "Anchor" thing is a little weak to me;kinda stupid actually. However, I love this author so much that I'm going to go on to the next book and see if this series will grow on me.

As far as the narration. it isn't all that bad. I am easily annoyed and although this narrator isn't one of my favorites, she definitely isn't one of the worst, either..

Not as good as the Mercury &Phoenix Pack series

Any additional comments?

Stop, stop, stop saying Harper's voice was terriblely done by Cat Doucette.

IN NO WAY was Harpers personalty whiny nor did I think her voice was. She was a women who grew up around the world with dead beat Imp dad then given back to her grandma, and the whole family talks about the same, She had to be tough watch out for her self and lets no one step on her nor her family. She is a tough chick if some inner hurts.

I think The voice Cat gave Harper works in this world. I never once hated it..... not every female voice as to be sweet and overly sexy. So stop. Think about it before you judge Cat so harshly and say she ruined this book, geez just enjoy the book and the personalities given and remember RL people talk like that.

This book was wonderful, I enjoyed everything about it.

Great, Book and Narrator, stop hating.
