Great novel with a "superhero team", a guy based on Walt Disney, and a presidential candidate who runs on a "tough on crime" platform: the character owns a chain of franchise funeral parlors and is Dracula's descendant.

There is a lot of moving parts to this story, and some of it is not fleshed out as well as you would hope. It also doesn't really come together at the end overly well. It is building to a climax and confrontation that just never really happens in the way it should.
There is some great things in here, and some interesting writing, but ultimately the book is less than the sum of it's parts.
Narration by Scott Glennon is really good. Glennon imparts into the text great emotion and inflection. He brings the characters off the page and make them come alive. Chapter one is about a character late to work and getting annoyed at everyone he has to deal with on his commute, and you can really feel the frustration of the character in Glennon's reading. It is really well done. A pleasure to listen to, keeping me more engaged then the text deserved.

Supernatural election that stumble at the end

Raw, violent and definitely NSFW, The Deadly Election is a brilliantly told story of manipulation, subterfuge and evil dressed in good's clean, white suits. One of the most interesting books I've seen this year, with a surprise ending you won't see coming. A strange tale, but I loved it.

Overall:
While I liked the plot of the book itself, I could not help but feel that the book was rushed to a conclusion. I found myself wanting to get to know the characters better, but the end climax crept up before I realized it was occurring. As a whole, the book seemed less about character building and more about the action (which is not necessarily a bad thing).
Performance:
The performance of the narrator was amazing. The high variance in voice between the different characters definitely helped overall reinforce the atmosphere of the book - gritty and violent.
Story:
Storywise, I was a little disappointed. For the protagonists especially - they interacted hardly at all. The plot was more than a little predictable (big bad, two organizations created by the big bad, three recruited protagonists with one assigned to each). At no point did I really feel like the protagonists were in actual danger. The plot 'twist' (if it was meant to be one) was more than a bit obvious by the end and cliche.

The performance is 1st rate and made me wish the book was longer.
