Have you ever loved someone so much that it hurt?

I have.

Have you ever cherished the pain because you knew the kind you'd face without them would be way too unbearable?

That's me.

To young Neeka Perry, Denny is one thing. In the streets, he's a whole other entity. She was brave enough to love both sides, upside down, all around, and back again.

He provided her with all a girl could believe she dreamed of—security, desire, and, most enviably, genuine love, all wrapped up in gold and diamonds.

He removed her far from the course of her ordinary college girl lifestyle and swept her into his world of whimsical madness.

For this and more, her love went beyond loyalty. She was devout… devout to him.

But is there such a thing as too much passion? Can you love someone too much?

And when you realize the person you love, and the person everyone fears, can also be the one everyone loves, and you can one day soon fear, who will save you?

Especially when the person you need saving from is yourself?

Stop right there. I don't want to be saved.

I've shackled myself to him with love. And I swallowed the key.

I'm in this for the long run.

I am devout.

I’m usually not a fan of Morae but BABBBBBYYY. She did her thing with this one but the story is well written which makes the performance even better!!

Amazing Narration

Oh my stars, "Devout" is a rollercoaster of emotions that had me shouting WOW from the rooftops! This audiobook experience was like diving into a whirlwind of feels, and I couldn't get enough.

First off, major kudos to the narrators. They didn't just read the story; they infused it with soul. Each character felt like a friend I'd known forever, thanks to their incredible performances. It's like they sprinkled magic dust on the words, making them come alive in my mind.

And can we talk about timing? Just as I finished soaking in the last word of "Devout," I discovered that Book 2 was dropping the very next day! I nearly did a happy dance because waiting would have been torture. Lucky for me, I jumped right into the sequel and let me tell you, it's a wild ride too.

The story itself? Utterly captivating. It's a mix of laughter, tears, gasps, and everything in between. The characters are so real, so flawed and lovable, that I couldn't help but root for them every step of the way. The plot twists? Absolutely genius.

If you're looking for an audiobook that'll grab your heart and not let go, "Devout" is it. Trust me, the narrators are like secret weapons, making the experience ten times more incredible. Don't walk, don't run – sprint to get your hands (or ears) on this gem. You'll thank me later!

Ii enjoyed how the plot worked to dig deep into each characters back story and point of view. It is great how much care the author took with each timeliness and character.

This was a great book but this female narrator was just waaayyy to dramatic. I had to skip some chapters because she was way too much. Overall a great book tho.
