It's the Spring Equinox in Myrtlewood, complete with strange disappearances, a quest to uncover heritage, and a journey beyond the veil…

Rosemary and Athena are just settling into their new life in the unapologetically magical village of Myrtlewood. After so many years in financial turmoil, things are looking up. Rosemary even nabs the perfect part-time job while waiting on a certain handsome vampire lawyer to process her inheritance. Life is surprisingly peaceful until strange disappearances throw everything into chaos leading up to the Spring Equinox.

Meanwhile, Athena is newly enrolled at Myrtlewood Academy but feels woefully unprepared for magical education. She has enough on her mind with the enigmatic Finnigan and his aloof behavior, not to mention the disappearance of her father, Dain.

If you're ready for more mystery, witches, paranormal women's fiction with a midlife main character, and a big dose of humor, you're going to love Experimental Magic, book two in the Myrtlewood Mysteries series.

Great series. This was book 2 (need to start with book one, first). Well now they both have magic and more knowledge. What is gonna happen next in this very suspenseful and engaging magical fantasy audiobook. Narrator makes it more mysterious.

I wasn't impressed with the breathy reading of the book. The mother was presented as not too smart and daughter up til the end was very disrespectful.

the daughters attitude

This was a first experience of a mystery/fantasy book. I found it to be very light and easy listening. This book may just have opened up a whole new genre of books for me. Even though the relationship between mother and daughter is the focus of the story line, it occasionally became a bit neurotic and disturbing. Overall the book flowed smoothly.

I’m more into fantasy/si fi than mystery

Voice of the main character was paced so slow, low and raspy 90% of the time I felt like I was listening to a much older constantly depressed woman or sad Eyore. It became hard to listen to. On the whole, the narrators did a great job but I did find myself wanting the main character to just say what they were going to say and perk up. Even in dismal circumstances.

Good pace. Good characters Variety and coherent tie ins. Nice happy resolution to each book.

I am absolutely in love with the Thorn ladies & this series! It really is a mix of Gilmore girls, hogwarts with a little sprinkle of fantastical beasts. Love the fact she ties in real magical terms & traditions.
