The New York Times bestselling series based on the blockbuster video game for Xbox!

It is 2555, more than two years after the Master Chief went missing-in-action following a decisive conflict on Installation 00—the massive, extragalactic Forerunner construct known as the Ark—as part of the final chapter in humanity’s bloody thirty-year struggle against the overwhelming forces of the Covenant. Now, as a tenuous peace exists between the humans and the Elites, a startling scientific discovery is made…and the riddle behind its Forerunner origins could very well seal the fate of the entire galaxy within a matter of weeks. In order to unravel these dangerous secrets, a heroic, hastily formed coalition of humans and Elites must attempt to overcome their differences as they embark on a covert mission back to the Ark—an astonishing, enigmatic place beyond comprehension from which few have returned and where mortal danger awaits them all…

loved it start to finish. the joint venture with elites and Spartans is awesome and character progression is well laid out. The epilogue plays well with the whole story being laid out and in all the book is quite suspenseful as far as Halo books go.

the new addition of some non covenant alien cannon fodder was a nice touch too. very descriptive. it gave me a feel of the movie Pitch Black. loved it

great Spartan and Elite cohesion

Some have complained this was a shallow attempt to introduce characters and background for new characters in Halo 5. I disagree.
For folks that enjoy the lore of the Halo universe I found this tale particularly interesting. The plot was engaging enough to keep things moving... not necessarily deep but I found the tie-ins and references to other events from both the video games and other novels rewarding. Like a bit of fan service, so to speak, for those who follow the lore. I wouldn't say that reading/listening to all of the prior novels is needed to understand these events. The video games are sufficient background.

I also thought that the narration was extremely well done. So much so that I found listening to Scott's dramatic reading more engaging than if I was reading it myself.

Another great entry to the Halo Universe

Out using any spoilers story follows the truce between you and UNSC and the Arbiter lead Sanghelli, as they do a mission to the Fore-Runner Halo creating Ark. Very well written follows usually halo storyline adding much detail to the lexicon. It is particularly well read by my favorite HALO narrator; Scott Brick!!!! I highly recommend it is a good fix for HALO DT's or Fever.

Follows Ark story and ONI Serin Osman

Honestly the most engaging stories out of all the halo books up to this point and filled to the brim with lore. much more enjoyable if you brush up on the history of halo 2 and 3 beforehand.

Best halo book in the series up to this point
