“Rick Mofina’s books are edge-of-your-seat thrilling. Page-turners that don’t let up.”
—Louise Penny, #1 New York Times bestselling author

Three girls go into the woods, but only one comes out…

Driving alone at night in a wild rainstorm, Luke Conway strikes something—or someone. He and his wife, Carrie, recently moved back to Clear River to help take care of her ailing father, and after a tragedy at his previous job, this move is their last chance at a new life. Now, standing in the downpour on this Texas road, Luke, an off-duty cop, has a decision to make—and he has to make it fast.

No one else is around. No witnesses. And he can’t find a body.

Wanting to believe he’s being paranoid, that he’s just seeing things, Luke panics and leaves, deciding not to report the incident but rather to secretly investigate it. He can’t put more stress on Carrie, who’s already haunted by the unsolved attack and murder of two teenage girls that happened years ago in Clear River, a horrific crime in which she was the sole survivor. The killer has not been found, but Carrie and Luke’s anguished search for answers will slowly reveal the horrific truth.

I have enjoyed every single moment of this book. It had me invested from start to finish with a heart stopping twist at the end!

Epitome of a Thriller

I didn’t like that. It was almost like the other book. I just read of his. Very predictable, same scenario a kidnapping a food in a cellar . I just feel that a writer needs to be more creative, I get when a book works people and people buy a lot, but don’t keep doing the same thing.

The repetitiveness

I actually thought I was slick and had this one figured out by the end. WRONG!!! I wish more books were like this. Only negative for me was the female character lead, Carrie, was a bit whiny and weak. Still overall and great book!

Great plot twist!

Overall pretty good, with some defined characters and details, and the story holds the suspense and mystery. Somehow not entirely satisfying for some reason. Maybe a few of the turns not quite believable. The pacing was even for most of the story, but the last section seemed rushed. Narrator was effective without being over the top. As a side, this book is notable for avoiding bad language and overly gruesome details.

Pretty good but not great
