When Charlotte Haze’s nurse, Rebecca Grainger, is found murdered at a disused burial ground and her young charge is nowhere to be found, Daniel and Jason must race against the clock to solve the crime in order to save the little girl.

Will their personal connection to the victim and their desperation to save Charlotte cloud their judgment and prevent them from solving the most important case of their partnership?

Please do not read this review if you do not want SPOILERS. The only thing I didn’t like was the making supernatural stuff real just so that the characters can solve the case. I hate the whole ‘this world is grounded in reality, but we’re going to allude to the psychics and mediums having real power’ trope. But that’s mostly just a pet peeve of mine, otherwise the story was good, and I’m looking forward to the next case.

This was a wonderfully nail biting book. had me almost crying because of the missing child. and I always kept praying in the middle of it that Jason would find Charlotte.
However I do Not like the new narrator. voices all sound the same and too gravely. I sometimes had trouble trying to figure out who was who because of it.

I basically gave this one 5 stars because it was an emotional roller-coaster. Daniel's daughter goes missing while out with her nanny Rebecca. Rebecca is found murdered and layed out upon a grave in the church cemetery and there is no sign of baby Charlotte. Jason is made lead investigator because Daniel is an emotional wreck. As each day goes by, the chances of Charlotte being found alive grows slimmer. As the investigation progresses, it is clear that Rebecca had secrets. There are other sub-plots in the background that render more dead bodies, but no clues as to baby Charlotte's whereabouts. This was a twisting, and thrilling read for me.
