Recently retired Met Detective Roz Parker boards the Christmas Eve sleeper to head home for the holidays, anxious and dreading her new role as grandmother upon arrival. Violently thrown from her thoughts when the train derails, Roz finds herself stranded on the snowy tracks, where she finds a fellow passenger suspiciously murdered in a locked cabin.

With the train stuck in snow in the middle of nowhere, a killer stalks its carriages, picking off passengers one by one. Unexpected alliances emerge as the passengers realize that those who sleep on the sleeper train may never wake again. Can Roz identify the killer before anyone else is lost? And will she have to miss the birth of her first grandchild to solve the mystery?

It was okay, never would of guessed the end but it didn’t have a Christmas feel to it. The narrator was great tho!

I went into this book with an open mind and was very excited to read a mystery novel, I did not end up liking this. My reasoning is very specific to me, which is why I still gave it a 3-star review. I am sure this book could still be enjoyed by others but for me, I can’t look past it. You see there is mention of sexual assault and a lot of it without a trigger warning. While the assault itself is not present on the page it is still described graphically enough that someone who was a victim themself would, like me, have a very hard time reading and enjoying this book. I am not even going to discuss the other issues I had with this book because I don’t want to spend longer thinking about it anymore.

It might be something someone else enjoys, but...

BIGGEST TRIGGER WARNING TO ABUSE, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, AND SEXUAL ASSAULT!

You ever expected to open a Christmas book for a cozy read and got PTSD brought up instead and tears pouring down your face? No? Well, that’s what this book was.

TRIGGER WARNING

Very good book. It is an easy read. It goes at an easy pace. It gives you and does what a mystery is supposed to do.
