Just when Aldric thinks things might die down a little for him, he's thrown back into the fire.

After crushing the dwarf, Torg Frosthammer, and bonding with Jordan, Aldric just wants to relax and enjoy the summer break before classes start again. But that is not his lot in life. An urgent summons comes from the Headmaster, and once there, Aldric learns that the Imperial Grand Magus is on his way to determine whether Aldric was justified in his actions with Torg.

Under normal circumstances, that was bad. For Aldric, it might be catastrophic. The Imperial Grand Magus is a legend, a mage bonded five times, stronger than any mage in the Empire. He has the ear of the Emperor himself. And he has a penchant for destroying those he views as a threat.

The meeting takes an unexpected turn, setting Aldric and his bonds on a course they're not sure they want to be on.

first off, I am enjoying this story alot. I appreciate the drama and world building, but a few things have stuck out so far across 2 books. the narrators while fine, seem to mix voices up sometimes and have almost no variation, which can be confusing. the spicy scenes, while fine, can get a bit... juvenile. all of that I can overlook for the most part, but the most annoying part of this story so far is the MC just refusing to bond more women and essentially whining about it. I get the angle (not wanting to feel like he is just using women as objects) but I can't stand stories where the MC acts all "woe is me", especially when his harem so far is basically pushing him to do it. seems unnecessary.

Story is good but has some hangups

I love this entire book except little parts messing up voice lines but it's a lot better in this one than it was in the first one but I will say because of the first book every time I saw a Jordan interlude it gave me anxiety I'm so glad they did her better she deserves better oh and I don't appreciate the cliffhanger I hate those lol can't wait for book three

The most dense, uptight ignorant mc I’ve ever had the pleasure of listening to. Seriously dude, chill out and go with the flow. Stop being a worrying little shit.

Dude stop whining.

I enjoyed the development of the main character as well as the introduction of two supporting cast members. I thought the plot was excellent and came to a great conclusion while still allowing for the series to continue. Excellent narration.

Better than the first book
