Romance with Zik was not on the menu.

On the menu were carefully plated dishes.

Not butterflies.

Not longing gazes.

Not replaying moments like a carousel.

And definitely not romance with my friend’s brother.

Or a younger guy.

So why did my stomach feel weird?

It had to be a stomach bug… right?

I loved all of the things that happened in this book. I was so happy when Zeke told Megan that he has been in love with her since he was young. I was also happy when Megan decided to fallow her heart and let herself fall for Zeke. I am so glad that I was able to read/listen to this book and so I can review because once again I loved the story completely.

Wonderful story!

A best friend's younger brother and good friend in his own right love story.

Dike's small family of his Nana and sister Ada had always been Megan's landing place when her doctor parents were to busy for her. Her elitist mom only ever saw them as the help and her grandkids.

First Nana passed, then more recently Ada passed leaving just Dike and Megan to mourn their loss. Struggling to find her place in life Megan, she finds comfort in Dike's ever present friendship.

When life continues to throw obstacles in her path, it is Dike's support that remain Megan's touchstone. Can she really trust their changing relationship?

The story has a book premise but the writing could be better. There were too many conflicting issues, especially with the timeline and their ages as to when things in the past happened. A good solid editing job would turn it into a well written book rather than the average at best read.

I started by listening to the Audio version first. There were plot issues and quality of the recording that need addressing. The quality of the duel narrators was inconsistent. A huge issue was that the main male character's name is written as Dike and is pronounced rhyming with Mike ( according to his African roots). The while narration he was referred to as Deke rhyming with peak Once I finished and went back to the written book those issues became even more apparent, especially with the timeline of past events and their ages.

I would rate this closer to a 3.5 than a 4 because of the editing issues needing addressing.
