Life sucks.

Gabe Harris has been clued into this fact for a long time now. In his mid-twenties, life has been nothing but low paying jobs, petty power-tripping bosses, and the worst roommates mankind has to offer. Bills, debt, and misery have haunted him for his entire adult life and, to make matters worse, it feels like his dream of being a writer is dead on arrival.

One fateful night, he decides to take control of his life and make his dream a reality. Diving into the strange world of online writing soon yields results, enough that he can move into his own place, even if it's a terrible studio apartment. As he finishes moving and prepares to pursue the life of a successful writer by any means necessary, the world throws something completely unexpected his way.

Ellen, a six foot five blonde goddess and former coworker, abruptly reenters his life as her own seemingly perfect existence is collapsing. When the two begin reconnecting, things start getting heated, and Gabe quickly learns that being a successful writer isn't the only thing he wants.

Right up front before you read any further just know that I recommend this book to anybody thinking about giving it a shot. A little context for my review. I tend to take it easy on the first and last book of any series as not every series makes it to “The End” and the first of anything can be a shaky endeavor. When I get to the ending of a book that I have liked I usually have a number of questions that I'm looking for answers for. That being said I thought I would share what I found here beyond the fact that I like the story. Sometimes the author will have the next installment already out and available even if it's only an eBook form. Unfortunately, in this case it's not yet out as of the time of this review. The next question is whether or not there would be anything else from the author or narrator that I thought might be interesting. For this author I've been through almost everything, but I would recommend that if you haven't already you should definitely check out “A Warm Place.” The complete series is available in eBook form and the first six or out on audio. I thoroughly enjoy the performance by this narrator, and she's quickly gotten into my top ten all-time favorites. I didn't mind the solo narration. I know she has partnered in the past with Gabriel. I am interested in the “Elemental Empire” series but as I haven't checked it out just yet, I will recommend that you take a look at “Mud Blood and Magic.” Lastly, I'll just say well done to everybody who had a hand in bringing this story to us, the Audible listeners.

Loved the story. A good break from the emotional roller-coasters that popular fantasy romance novels.

This is a feel-good story.
