Great first book in series

The narration is good. The story is okay. The main character is rather dumb and very useless. Figures out he's actively being hunted in a modern with firearms, proceeds to be a useless idiot with 0 skills outside being a basic office worker, fails at research, fails at magic stuff, fails to arm himself in any way, that's a lot of fails for a main character. Needed more time to flesh that fella out and actually make him useful other than being to dong in a relationship.

For the genre, which is to say popcorn harem fantasy, this is a solid book. I was actually surprised the author managed some degree of character development for most of the cast in such a short read, given how fast the harem explodes in size. There's also some neat world building, though things get a bit hand-wavy at times. All of that said, if you're looking for a "real" book where the plot stands on its own merit and isn't partially carried by the harem/sex element, this ain't it chief. Otherwise, it's worth trying.

Narration is quite good overall, no complaints.
