Yesterday a wannabe pro-gamer, today an alien admiral.

Evan was desperate to hit the big time playing Star Commander, the world’s most popular real-time strategy game. While Evan works hard to get the pros to notice him, it's very different eyes that are captivated by Evan's progress.

The Kirran Hegemony is at war. Outclassed at every step, the aliens turn to the most warlike race they know—humanity! Abducted from Earth, Evan finds himself fighting for his life, using his skills to command Hegemony forces in desperate battle.

Now, helped by fellow humans, Evan must prove victory can be grasped from the jaws of impossible odds.

This omnibus contains books 1-3 of the series.

The strategic aspects and worldbuilding are intelligently written and pretty interesting. The performance is pretty good, not spectacular but not bothersome either. Overall a good entertainment value.

If you can just stop yourself from thinking about how a vast galactic hegemony consisting of various cultures - including some more recently acquired ones that went to war against the hegemony - would need the strategic expertise of human RTS players *and* you can get yourself to not think about why with such easy construction, more static defenses and forces haven't been created before you enter engagements (in order to simulate RTS game mechanics), then this is a fun set of novels.

I wasn't always successful at turning my brain off and had to set it down sometimes, but when I did manage to just let myself enjoy the series, I found it to be a fun experience. The English narrator was a joy to listen to and he did a great job with alien voices.

not the best book I've ever read, but not bad at all either. Definitely still worth the credit. Suggest checking it out if you want something a bit unique. Just finished book 4 and it really brought the whole story together so I'm updating this review to match. use this book as a palate cleanser between heavier books and it'll be exactly what you need.

This is my first attempt at listening to an 'RTS' type lit book (normally listen to litrpgs). As a fan of Starcraft, I really enjoyed this series. The world-building was done well and I liked the ideas the author put out.
This was also my first experience with the narrator as well, and I ended up really enjoying his performance!
I do think that the 1st chapter took a pretty big suspension of belief to be able to enjoy the story. I would have almost enjoyed it more if it just skipped the earth part.

Enjoyable LITRTS
