When Redwall was published in 1987 it catapulted author Brian Jacques to international stardom. And small wonder! This enthralling tale is jam-packed with the things we long for in a great adventure: danger, laughter, hairbreadth escapes, tragedy, mystery, a touch of wonder, a truly despicable villain, and a hero we can take to heart.

That hero is Matthias, a young mouse who must rise above his fears and failures to save his friends at Redwall Abbey. The villain is Cluny the Scourge, one of the most deliciously despicable rats of all time. The unforgettable cast of supporting characters includes the stalwart badger Constance, an irrepressible hare named Basil Stag Hare, and the elderly wisemouse Brother Methuselah.

But most of all there is Matthias, seeking his true destiny in a journey that will lead through danger and despair to true wisdom.©1995 The Redwall Abbey Company, Ltd. (P)1997 Random House, Inc., Listening Library, An Imprint Of Random House Audio Publishing Group

Our whole family loved Redwall. Sometimes the characters were hard to understand at first, but well worth the effort. Great fun!

I read the first few books in this series back when I was a kid. A rush of nostalgia convinced me to give this one a listen. It holds up very well, and I enjoyed it still now, 20 years later. Actually a surprising amount of action and death for a children's book. But very well written, great detail and description in the text.

The full cast production was great, all of the actors did a good job and embodied the characters well. Admittedly I did find Maitthias' voice a bit grating, but again, it did feel true to the character.

Overall I was entertained listening to this book, and imaging a world again where mice fought off rats and weasels. Brought me back to my time as a middle schooler, and it was a great adventure once again.

Enjoyed it just as much as when I was a kid

Would you consider the audio edition of Redwall to be better than the print version?

Nothing is better than print.

Would you recommend Redwall to your friends? Why or why not?

Yes. Great story for 5th graders and older - even for adults.

What three words best describe Brian Jacques and Full Cast ’s performance?

Fun, well performed, enjoyable.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

This isn't just a rat infestation - it's a battle.

Any additional comments?

The chapters are off - says 9 but there are many more chapters than this. Hard to follow along in the book (as I have my 11 year old daughter do). Is this the app on my iPhone 5s? Would love to have chapters working properly.

When I first started reading this book in paperback I absolutely despised it. The storyline seemed cute and promising but the detail and overall lack of excitement was causing me to fall asleep every time I read it. But I had to read it for school... My solution Audible! The voices matched to the characters exactly how I pictured and made the story far more enjoyable then I could have imagined! Now I would recommend it if you want a cute charming escape to a world of furry animals and long tailed villains.

From falling asleep to falling right into place

Better than reading the book myself. I couldn't have gotten the voices right in my head. Excellent and a must (read) or listen to by any Audible book lover.

Love it!
