A reckless Victorian heiress sets her sights on a dashing ex-naval lieutenant, determined to win his heart as the two of them embark on a quest to solve a decades-old mystery in USA Today best-selling author Mimi Matthews' sequel to her critically acclaimed novels The Work of Art and Gentleman Jim.

If he’s going to unravel them, he’ll need the assistance of someone as daring as he is.

Great story! I loved both Kate and Charles! But I’d say my favorite was all the family dynamics♥️ I loved the camaraderie of Kate and her brothers, but also Charles tenderness and kindness towards his sister. The interaction with both sets of parents was fabulous. It’s just an all-around good story looking so forward to the next one.

First time I’ve not been enamored with ms Matthew’s characters. I liked the “work of art” book about Charles’ parents, Kate and Charles just weren’t that compelling.

Meh.

Mimi brings together both families from A Work of Art and Gentlemen Jim in this fantastic story brought to life with Alex Windham. Alex is one of the best readers out there! I HIGHLY recommend this series!!

I read this book previously. Not realizing it was a series. I recently read the first book, and decided to read each one in order. It is so much more delicious when you do that! I really enjoy characters who are off spring from previous books. The story line moves along at a good pace, no time for boredom! Every character whether good or bad are full, you know them. You can picture them, you find yourself rooting for them! Read it, you won’t be sorry! Read it in order, you will love it more!

Charles…So much like his Father. Both men with exciting tales.

Well written and audibly executed. Drama not overdone, and characters that were both believable and admirable. So many stories classified as “romance” are confused with sex. This one was purely romance.

Nothing to complain about here
