Only imagine a summer by the sea. Perhaps you will meet the love of your life.

When Elizabeth Bennet inherits a crumbling seaside mansion in Brighton, she expects renovation headaches but not romantic chaos. All plans for a peaceful restoration are shattered when the Viscount Saye rents the property before it's even remotely habitable and arrives to stay with his cousin Mr. Darcy in his party.

Mr. Darcy, his pride wounded from Elizabeth’s rejection in Kent and his cousin’s insinuation that heartache has made him stout, hopes a seaside escape will do him good. But when his new land lady is revealed to be the woman who spurned him, it soon becomes clear that the house is an apt metaphor for his own romantic aspirations. Every repair reveals a new disaster, every encounter with Elizabeth leads to a heated argument—or a stolen kiss—and no amount of fresh plaster can cover the cracks of their passionately volatile relationship. But there is always room for improvement.

With their undeniable attraction brewing and a house quite literally crumbling around them, can two stubborn hearts find their way to happiness amid the rubble?

This was a truly lovely story. Two amazing authors came together and made magic. The narrator was very good. Saye and his dog were a hoot and I loved Mrs. Prescott. Interactions at Longbourn and with most of the Bennets are minimal. My only issue with the story was considering the gentry and nobility of that era was so hung up on propriety and manners, the fact that everyone was constantly interrupting everyone else was a little annoying. How long does it take to realize if you let someone finish their sentence you may save yourself and others a lot of pain.
I understand it is meant to cause friction and angst but it was a little frustrating.

Even with that, this is still an A+ story filled with wonderful characters and without any real villains.

Lovely story and narration

A light-hearted romp along the seaside, full of strong feelings and pesky misunderstandings. Be prepared to crave some Ben and Jerry's while reading!!

Great fun

I need Saye’s book. I don’t know if it’s next or not but he is hilarious. Loved the characters and the narrator. The only thing I didn’t like was the constant misunderstandings. I gave up angsty books 20 years ago. Overall… very entertaining!

Saye!

Viscount Sei!!!!! (not sure I'm spelling that right since I listened to the book) He is my ALL TIME FAVORITE! I love every story with him in it, this story has a very large storyline for him and I'm totally here for it! Also, one of my pet peeves with the books that he is in, is that not ONE narrator (except Stevie) has done him well - finally Elizabeth Klett performed him well - yay!!!

OK - the story is great also! The premise is a refreshingly new take on ODC's adventure of falling in love. The story happens in Brighton, where EB has inherited property and they run into each other post the Kent rejection. Thanks to the Viscount, this story goes on a really wild and laugh out loud funny adventure. EB has another suitor to add some tension, there is quite a bit of mis-understanding, and like i said there are lots of laughs along the way.

This is a very original story that is quite enjoyable to listen to, I highily recommend it! And please, please give us more books with lots more of Viscount Sei. And if you aren't able to book Stevie, PLEASE use Elizabeth Klett, she is a favorite and adds a great deal more fun to the narration than others I have listened to.

My Dream JAFF book
