Loyalty. Deception. Family secrets.
Mr. Bennet has a son. Longbourn has an heir. Elizabeth is an heiress.
When the master of Longbourn dies, the estate is inherited by Jonathan Bennet, the eldest son of Thomas. Alongside his sister Elizabeth, Jonathan finds himself caught in the tense household of their father's second wife, Fanny Bennet, whose bitterness towards her stepchildren leads to escalating conflicts. As Jonathan marries and the Bennet family is divided, Fanny schemes to regain control of Longbourn, determined to rid herself of the family she resents.
The arrival of the Netherfield party only adds to the chaos. Amid the turmoil, Elizabeth Bennet's budding love with the aloof Mr. Darcy becomes the center of intrigue and manipulation. With enemies lurking in unexpected places, Elizabeth and Darcy must navigate the treacherous waters of loyalty, deception, and family secrets. But not all is as it seems, and when several conspire to keep them apart, their love may be tested beyond repair.
In this reimagined classic, the stakes are higher, and the heartache deeper—will love find a way, or will the shadows of the past tear them apart?
A Darcy and Elizabeth Pride and Prejudice variation featuring a son to inherit Longbourn and Elizabeth Bennet with a dowry. The story takes place primarily at Longbourn and Netherfield.

The author combines humor and drama to craft a heartwarming tale that strikes the right balance of smiles and sadness, creating a riveting story. Definitely a great listen.
Crazy Fun

I loved the premise of this variation—Longbourn has a heir, but he is not Fanny Bennet’s son. He is nothing like the Mr Bennet we know from canon who is not living in this story. Jonathan Bennet is capable, steady, and very much in charge, which changes the whole atmosphere of the Bennet household in an interesting way. He’s married to Charlotte Lucas.
The story definitely leans into drama—sometimes wildly so. Fanny Bennet, Caroline Bingley, Mr Collins, and Wickham conspire together and go to extremes to each get what they want. It all made me raise an eyebrow once or twice, but I cannot deny that it kept things lively.
Elizabeth and Darcy’s early connection is sweet but somewhat rushed without any of the usual misunderstandings.
If you prefer your variations completely grounded, this one might not be for you, but a slightly over-the-top romp built on a strong premise can be great fun, especially in audio. I have to say I loved it, even though I raised a brow from time to time.
And truly, Harry Frost’s narration makes the whole experience even more enjoyable.
A midnight listen I couldn’t put down.

Good alternate storyline

I jump at the chance when Melissa Anne has a new book as I enjoy that we usually get lots of Darcy and Elizabeth time on page and come together quicker in the story. 4 1/2 stars
In this variation Mr Bennet married the love of his life but lost her when Elizabeth was born. The age difference between Elizabeth and her older brother is similar to Darcy and Georgiana. I loved that Grandmama Bennet was still alive and active in the family. Mr Bennet remarried but was not happy. Jane is a child of the new Mrs Bennet’s first marriage and the three younger girls are product of Mr & new Mrs Bennet. This is a selfish vindictive Mrs Bennet story who didn’t like that Jonathan inherited and now has to follow his direction for finances and his advice on raising the girls.
Darcy has some knowledge of the Bennet family from his working with Mr Gardiner, so he is ready and willing to meet and spend time with them. (If you are a Bingley and Jane fan this is not the story for you but sit back and see what happens.)
Then we throw in four greedy, selfish people and get a mess of trouble. How will this turn out? You will have to read. There is an epilogue for those who enjoy them and if you sign up or already get her newsletter there are bonus scenes available.
Elizabeth has an older brother!
