In Sanctuary, Ryan James comes home one day to find his wife gone, leaving a hastily written note. Stunned, Ryan searches frantically, only to discover that Melissa is not who she claimed to be. Now she has escaped to Amish country. There Melissa’s painful history unfolds--even as danger closes in.

Critic reviews

"The Lewises throw in some artful plot twists and adeptly avoid the trap of a fairy tale ending. The final choices made by Ryan and Melissa will satisfy Beverly Lewis's devoted readership, as will the salvation message that holds the story together." (Publishers Weekly)

I got this book because it's advertised as book 3 of the Cross road. After one chapter I was confused, wondering her this book tied into the Cross roads. So I read the reviews... seriously wish I would have read the reviews before purchasing. Many wrote the this should have been a stand alone book. I finally decided to listen to the story, since it was already purchased. The story was... ok Nothing like what the author normally writes. If I was actually reading this story I would have probably never finished it, but the narrator made the story interesting. I learned a valuable lesson, read all reviews before making a purchase again. There was very little written about Almish. And as for Christian values it was treated as an after thought. Kind of like...." Oh BTW so and so Prayed a repentance prayer"

The story was good. I wasn’t ready for it to end when it did. I wanted more. I didn’t understand how this story related to the first two books, The Postcard and The Crossroads. I enjoyed the book however.

A different kind of story for Beverly Lewis.

This was listed as book 3 when you look up the series “Amish Country Crossroads” both on Amazon and here on Audible. However, it is not listed as a buyable book when doing the search under the name of the series. Says “not available.” I found the book listed separately and bought it based on it being the 3rd in a trilogy. It has nothing at all to do with the first two books in the series and I believe is incorrectly listed and is a stand alone book. It had an incredible plot, more complicated than most “Amish” fiction. But was so short. I was disappointed that it ended so quickly. The writers were very skilled though and the narrator did a great job. Beverly Lewis is a talented author.

Interesting, suspenseful, short
