As one of the top paid defense-men in the NHL, my life has been a revolving door of beautiful women and no-strings-attached sex. Until Brynne.

It was only supposed to be a one-night-fling. Hell, it wasn't even supposed to be that. I knew the cardinal rule. Don't touch the coach's daughter. And for years, I kept my hands to myself. It wasn't difficult considering Brynne Jacobs hates my guts.

She can't stand being in the same room as me - except for that one night. A night that left me hell bent on having more. Having all of her. But she took off. No text. No explanation. Not even a goodbye.

Now she's back, but she's not alone. She's got a kid. A kid with all-too-familiar blue eyes and dimples. Math might not be my strong suit, but a quick calculation and I know the baby is mine. And she's delusional if she thinks I'm going to let her keep him from me.

Damaged. Callous. Cold. Those are the words she uses to describe me. And I've never claimed to be anything more. But for her - for them - I want to be.

I've been a fighter on the ice my entire life. Now, I'm fighting for the one thing I've spent my life running from - family.

Author's note: This is a stand-alone spin-off of the Amazon Top 25 best seller, Second Draft. You do not have to hear Second Draft first. No cliffhanger, and a guaranteed happily ever after.

I absolutely loved this book if I could give it 10 stars I would and I dont say that very often about many books. It touched me so deeply for painful personal reasons.
It was such a rollercoaster of emotions but I would not change the fact that I read it for a minute. I was in tears for some parts and smiling in others it was crazy but so good.
I loved Kane and understood everything he was dealing with, the pain and the guilt of not being able to do more...
I also understood what Brynne was going through even if I was upset with the way she treated Kane at times.
In the end 2 broken souls come together to take care of a little baby :) a little bit of each of them and what can go wrong, right?

loved it!

This is my first CM Seabrook book and I am hooked. This second chance romance had me captivated from the first chapter and I couldn't stop listening, Kane and Brynn have always had chemistry, but circumstances always seemed to keep them apart. Its easy to to fall for Kane, he is loyal and protective. And there is nothing sexier than a man with his baby. Brynn is not so easy to like. Her character does not trust easily and cannot see situations for what they really are. Her attitude was hard to take at times, her stubbornness to see the truth keeping her from happiness and causing her unnecessary heartache. As time went on, it was good to see her grow and change. I loved the fact that CM Seabrook incorporated a second chance romance in with some serious themes as well. With drug abuse and suicide at the source of many of the misconceptions in Kane and Brynn's relationship, the storyline incorporated the seriousness of real life giving the story some grit. Families dealing with such tragedy and crisis go through so much and the story brought that out well with the relationship of Brynn and her father as well as Kane and with his sister Kylie.

This is my first book narrated my Evelyn Marcail, and I thought she did a wonderful job. Her performance is well paced and her voices easily distinguishable between characters. I look forward to more narrations by her and will, definitely be listening to more CM Seabrook releases.

Another great book by C.M. Seabrook and is amazing in audiobook!

Evelyn Marcail does an amazing job with the narration. She hits the different voice changes very well. you are able to distinguish whenever it is someone different speaking. Great job!

A little about the story: Brynne is a girl who is still angry and hurting over her brother's death. She needs someone to blame, so that someone is her brother's best friend Kane. Kane is a hockey player. He has had his eyes on his best friend's sister forever, only problem is She Hates Him! Kane knows things about her brother than she doesn't know. Brynne spent one night with him in a moment of weakness. About a year later they run in to each other and Kane decides he wants her no matter what. I will leave it at that because I don't want to give out any spoilers.

Their chemistry is popping like fireworks! I would definitely recommend resding this book. I loved it!

Second Chance Romance with a secret baby? Always catches my attention. I have to say that I had a hard time caring about Brynne. For an intelligent young woman to despise her father, then choosing to act just like him.....so very not attractive. And the petulance of throwing the bomb at him about his grandchild without regard to how she was harming her son’s father....so VERY NOT attractive. I was starting to think less of Kane for putting up with her sh*t. I DID appreciate Brynne’s reconciliation with her father and their forgiveness.
Ms Marcail’s narrative strength is in her delivery of the character’s emotions.
