Loved it. Janny Wurts is a powerful writer.
She continued an amazing story, and world, created by Raymond E. Fiest Jr.

A great tale. The world in which this story unfolds is detailed and imaginative. The culture of the society being reflected upon and questioned due to an 'other worlder' unceremoniously calling things as he sees them, though not a new concept, brings the reader along without 'heavy handedness'. Traditions are brought into reflection and new paths are forged for the betterment of the empire.

Well written

The political intrigue, backstabbing …out playing each other With spies etc…
So young Mara in the first book gets to learn how to play the game! At times The game of the council in the Houses in the Empire are ruthless & backstabbing.

But in the second book she masters it with precise precision with a little help with the people around her especially a new character name Kevin a captive slave of Midkemia: Zun .
she finds her self as the most despised to her enemies more than ever.
Note the third and final installment is called “Mistress to the Empire”

I swear them a honorable 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

There is a parallel chapter in Servant of the Empire that connects the “Magician:Master-to the story because they run parallel. A certain beloved character is there🤔.

Invest time Read the Riftwar Cycle for the 2 trilogies are great in my opinion or just treat the empire Trilogy as its own ..
