Excellent narration and good story. I appreciate any 40k books that choose to focus on the everyday Joes of the Guard.

I'm not terribly into the more vehicle based action combat stories but I really got sucked into this story.

Some really good character developement and some fun lore stuff for the Eldar and Slaanesh.

I don't say that it's darker and edgier as a bad thing. The story of Lieutenant Bannick is still a good one and the tank battles are great. This time it's against humans and the forces of Chaos. Things are darker than in Baneblade and the characters more developed. Toby Longworth knocks it out of the park with his narration as usual. Definitely check this out
