Alchemist. Poisoner. Reluctant Queen.

Wren Embervale knows her duty demands a crown, even if it means a strategic betrothal to the influential Lord Darian Devereux. Their arranged marriage promises the formidable army she needs to wrestle her kingdom from the clutches of the tyrannical usurper, Silas. Yet, Wren’s heart still belongs to Torj Elderbrock, her soul-bonded Warsword.

Torn between her pragmatic alliance and the visceral pull of her bond with Torj, Wren must navigate a treacherous landscape of courtly intrigue and looming war. As Silas’s shadow alchemy tightens its grip on the midrealms and a creeping poison steals Torj’s strength, Wren’s carefully constructed facade begins to crack. Can she play the dutiful fiancée to secure her throne, while her body and soul yearns for the warrior who would lay down his life for her? Or will the tangled threads of political necessity leave her kingdom—and her heart—in ashes?

From the Sunday Times bestselling author of Iron & EmbersSilver & Smoke is the blistering finale to the Ashes of Thezmarr series.

I really enjoyed both this and the original series. I’m sad it’s over but it was a nice ending.

Love this universe

This book took all the way to the very end for resolution. I was a few chapters from the end thinking there was no way out and biting my nails. I just knew even though this was supposed to be the final book in Wren’s trilogy, that there had to be another coming! And yet…Scheuere pulled it off! Magnificently. What an awesome ending to Wren and Torj’s story. This book is full of battles and love. Magic and blood. With a few surprises sprinkled throughout. Old faces and new make appearances. And. While Wren and Torj’s story comes to completion, there are characters left whose stories can be told. And a missing person from the side of evil who could come back to wreak havoc. Is there another warsword’s HEA coming? I hope so! I’m still torn as to my book boyfriend from the world of Thezmarr…Vernich or Kipp…Grumpy or sunshine! I’d love to see both in an HEA.

And the narrators? Ooooo when they both do Torj….when Matt Haynes narrates Torj or Vernich? I melt!!! Both Haynes and Bauer do such a good job.

Battle & love. Magic and blood.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The third and final book in The Ashes of Thezmarr was solid and satisfying. Overall, this series landed at a consistent 4 stars for me, though the first book remains my favorite.
Kipp was hands-down my favorite character, with Wren close behind. I especially loved the poisoner aspect—it added a sharp, dangerous edge that kept things interesting.
A strong conclusion to a series I enjoyed, even if book one still holds the crown for me.

Scheuerer knows how to write captivating fantasy with epic romance and I’m thankful to have been swept away by both Legends and Ashes.
Warswords, alchemists, and storm-wielders.
Tragic ending and beautiful futures.
Found family with love that runs deeper than blood.

Such a perfect conclusion to a world and characters I’ll never forget.

Thezmarr forever!
