A spellbinding romantasy about a powerful teenage witch who will do anything to escape the remote island where she’s being held captive—even blackmail the notorious, charming pirate who washes up on shore.

“A dazzling debut with magic, pirates, sea monsters, and a steamy star-crossed romance.”—Aiden Thomas, New York Times bestselling author of Cemetery Boys and The Sunbearer Trials

Rosalinda is trapped on Sinner’s Isle, an island filled with young women like her—Majestics, beautiful witches loathed by society for their dangerous magic yet revered by powerful men who want to use them.

For years, she has been kept under the watchful, calculating eye of Doña Lucia. Now eighteen, Rosa will be the prized commodity at this year’s Offering, a fiesta for the wealthy to engage in drink, damsels, and debauchery. That is why she must flee—before someone forces the vicious phantoms within her to destroy everything she touches.

Handsome, swashbuckling Mariano has long sailed the high seas as the Prince of Pirates. Then the king’s fleet attacks his father’s infamous ship, leaving him marooned on Sinner’s Isle with only an enchanted chain meant to lead him to his heart’s desire. Instead, he falls into the hands of a brazen (although) bewitching headache—Rosa.

Together they must outwit each other and their enemies before the Offering ends and it’s too late to escape the perils of Sinner’s Isle.

I loved the story! The characters were great, even side characters were fleshed out and active in their own lives. It felt like everyone had agency, not just the main character. The writing was great, the narrator did a great job, and the story itself was addicting 😊

What a great story!!

I LOVE Angela Montoya's writing! I had the honor to arc read this story before it came out and I absolutely fell in love with the characters and the world. Thiss is my first time listening to the audiobook and I gotta give props to the narrator for doing justice to these beloved characters. She added an extra layer of realism to the story that had me listening into the wee hours of the night. Well done!

As someone who doesn’t usually enjoy young adult, I throughly enjoyed this book.

A story full of magic, pirates and strong characters.

There were times that this midwestern mom could feel the phantoms racing through her own veins and taste the briny call of the sea.

It was only when she pulled out her airpods hearing the roar of leaf blowers not the sea, she realized she was in Ohio hauling leaves to the fire to be burned.

As an avid reader in all formats, the narrator of an audiobook can kill the mood. This narrator did not.
The story was flawlessly read aloud.

I would LOVE to hear this book with a full cast complete with swords clanging, hoisting of the sails and crashing of the angry sea.

No matter what format you are considering BUY THIS BOOK.

Loved the cast. Very likable complex characters. I really enjoyed the story. I like that the story feels complete at the end. But wouldn’t mind a spinoff following the king and him changing his kingdom for the better

A beautiful story !
