Knox

Working the ranch is the only thing I live for. It's hard work, long days, but it's all I know. I like being alone and being out here in the valleys of the mountains gives me the seclusion I crave. So when a gorgeous stranger takes shelter in one of my barns, I wonder how the hell she got there. But she isn't just anyone. Elena De Luca may look sweet and innocent, but her family is the reason my business is on the rocks. With her family's corruption and the blood they've spilled, it'll take years to get the Carter Cattle Ranch back to where it was. And now she needs something from me.

Safety. A place to heal. And what better place than a ranch in the middle of nowhere? She promises to make it right but trusting a De Luca is like making a deal with the devil, and she happens to wear lace.

Elena

It was my birthright to become the head of the De Luca mafia family. My father is dead, and the business is now mine. But you can't fix a man's fragile ego. When some of the men who are supposed to be loyal turn on me, I have no choice but to flee. What I don't expect to find is a grumpy cattle rancher who hates me just as much as the men who tried to kill me. Turns out I have more to fix than just the treason within my own ranks. So I make him a deal. Give me a place to stay while I fix the mess everyone else made, and I'll return his business to where it used to be. He doesn't believe I have the power to do so but I'm tired of men believing me to be weak. But all those long nights spent with him have me yearning for more than just my throne. I want the king too.

This story is great! Different from all other cowboy / mafia roms. FMC narration is AMAZING¡! MMC narration *ehh* not so much. There are long pauses between sentences and slow reading in general! I had to speed up, more than normal, during MMC chapters. Dual narration.

Great story BUT….

This book was just what I needed. There is nothing better then a consistent badass FMC. Elena is definitely one of my all time favorite FMCs. Knox & Elena were absolute perfection, no notes. The banter, the tension, the spicy scenes!?? 🥵🥵 The epilogue was perfect. Also Ralph the bull?? I loved his relationship with Elena. Just read it! I devoured this book on audio so damn fast and it would've been one sitting if it wasn't so late. The narrators both were fantastic, Gabriel should always voice a grumpy cowboy.

perfect

Ohhhh this one hit a very specific sweet spot—dark cowboy + mafia princess on the run?? Say less.

Steel & Sin is chaotic in the best way. You’ve got Elena—freshly forced into power after her mob boss father is murdered—immediately thrown into survival mode when her own uncle turns on her. And where does she land? Not some sleek safehouse… but a rugged Wyoming ranch run by Knox Carter, a grumpy, older cowboy with a past and a whole crew of lovable misfits.

The contrast here? Chef’s kiss.

Elena is all sharp edges, power, and city-born danger. Knox is grounded, worn down, and carrying the weight of a ranch that’s already been burned—partly because of the kind of business Elena’s family was involved in. So yeah… there’s tension before we even get to the attraction.

And the banter?? Top tier.
These two go at each other in the best way—push, pull, challenge, spark. Knox doesn’t coddle her, and Elena doesn’t shrink for him. He respects her fire, she craves his steadiness… and when that tension flips into chemistry??

🔥 Explosive.

The romance builds in this gritty, emotional way where you feel the conflict underneath it—his resentment, her guilt, their mutual need. It’s messy, it’s intense, and it works. And yes… the spice absolutely delivers. Confident, charged, and very much in line with the tone of the story.

What really makes this stand out though is the shared mission. This isn’t just romance—it’s rebuilding. Elena fighting to reclaim her empire while Knox is trying to save his town and ranch. Watching those two worlds collide and then slowly align? So satisfying.

Only reason it’s not a full 5 for me is that a few transitions felt a little quick, especially with how big the stakes are—but honestly, I was having too much fun to care for long.

If you’re into:

* Dark romance with actual plot
* Mafia meets small-town grit
* Older, broody cowboy with a backbone
* FMC who can hold her own (and then some)
* Found family + redemption vibes

This one’s an easy yes.

Knox and Elena? Absolute chaos together… and I ate it up.
