With Alanah having ascended, Derek now has a favor to fulfill.

In preparation for things to come, Derek spent most of his time in Cydaria making it safe for all of his friends and companions. He saw Thomas off to the Academy, helped Brandi with materials for crafting, and more.

Once he had Savanna to his liking, he chose to adventure with Alanah. They traveled to the other continent and explored different kingdoms before ending up in Linderis—Alanah’s birthplace. Alanah had no good memories of there, save for her mother.

The two of them, with a little help, traveled to the Echoing Abyss, where Alanah found a keepsake she thought lost forever. Then, they face the Echoing Willow, the World Boss which haunted the Dawn Siren’s dreams from when she was a child.

The willow defeated and everything calm in Cydaria, Alanah ascended and Derek swore to go find her one day. Now, all that awaits Derek is Dave’s favor.

Don’t miss the eighth installment of Derek’s journey in the System Universe. Join Derek in this unique combination of the LitRPG, Isekai, and Slice of Life genres. He has friends, a bond that should last forever, and even a home. What more could our overpowered protagonist ask for?

Spoilers Ahead!
This is one of me favorite series. The thing I like the most about this series is how overpowered Derek is. As you can imagine, my biggest complaint about this book is that Derek's and his friends' difficulty during the invasion. Derek has so many advantages that there should not be ANY user the same level that could give him even a somewhat good fight (unless they somehow have the same advantages). That's why the fight with his 'best friend' makes little sense. I know that he wasn't trying to kill his friend, but it was closer than it should have been. Also, the guardians were meant to be from a 'quality' system and the challengers were meant to be from a 'quantity' system, so I assumed that the guardians would be much stronger than their counterparts. However, it seemed to me that they were pretty even (rank for rank). The whole invasion seemed unfair to me. One planet versus numerous planets. At first, I thought it was going to be 10 vs 10, but it was Universal System 3 vs One planet. To make it fair it should have been 10 vs 10 and each of the 10 should be able to bring 100 subordinates on both sides. And only those numbers are able to fight/teleport to the 'Great System's world. Even though the book had those not one of the challengers or Jace as powerful as a unnamed ninja in Naurto (basically just fillers unable to do anything), in reality the probability of powerful users deciding to fight for rewards is high. That's why it seemed to unfair to me, since the Universal System had so many users, the probability of more users like Jace are high and all of them could join the fight. All the Jaces of the system could have been roaming the planet untrackable, defeating the guardians who weren't as strong as they should have been. Obviously, this didn't happen, but it could/should have happened with the rules giving the invaders a huge advantage. Without Derek I doubt the 'Great System' would have won. The guardians seemed frustratingly impotent. All this said, I still love this series. Derek can be frustratingly slow on the uptake at times. This is especially evident when reading system messages or speaking to Dave. He throws fits (mentally usually) when things aren't spelled out for him. He went to college on earth and came from an educated family, so he should have critical thinking skills, but doesn't seem to be able to figure things out without it being explained in simple words. His obsession with trying to take people to the origin system can be trying. 'Should I offer to take them with me?' goes through his head too frequently. He doesn't even know he is able which I doubt the system would allow it and then they'd be an invader and unable to use the system anymore. He should already know it is a bad idea, as he was explained what happened to him when he arrived on the planet. If Dave didn't intervene, he would have been treated as an invader by the system. All those he brings would be the same (without the intervention).

Great Series
