this was not my type of vampire lore, what with the whole ripening and battle form, but I did enjoy that they were black vampires because you know representation matters. with that being said I do recommend it and I'm definitely listening to the next book I want to see how this saga ends.

I enjoyed reading book 3 the Heart Mage, and learning Nai’s perspective. I was surprised to see Seraphine was included; but pleased that she was. Without giving too much away for those who have not read the book yet, I would like to see Nai and Seraphine, Xander and Camille, and I want Ian to get his own queen. I would like for all of them to have children and live as one big happy family. Unfortunately, the world doesn’t operate where we could live in peace because there will always be some who aspire to have more power than others. Somehow the Mages and vampires will have to come to some understanding. Overall, the book was enjoyable. I look forward to reading more books from this extremely creative, imaginative, and gifted author. I can’t wait for book 4, the Eternal Consort.

The voices could’ve been a bit better but the activities was very thigh tightening. It so worth the listening and reading, Xander has one heck of a temper. And the Quite King with a corpse is the most wild thing I have ever heard.
