Drizzt Do'Urden has settled in the windswept towns of Icewind Dale. There, he encounters a young barbarian named Wulfgar, captured in a raid and made the ward of a grizzled dwarf name Bruenor. With Drizzt's help, Wulfgar will grow from a feral child to a man with the heart of a dwarf, the instincts of a savage, and the soul of a hero. But it will take even more than that to defeat the demonic power of Crenshininbon, the fabled Crystal Shard.

What made the experience of listening to The Crystal Shard the most enjoyable?

The character development. No fiction book can succeed without the reader, listener, identifying with the story participants. The easier that occurs the better. The author achieves this very well.

Which character – as performed by Victor Bevine – was your favorite?

The "Barbarian" was my favorite. He reminded me of "Thor" mixed with "Conan".

Any additional comments?

The story was a bit slow in some areas, while loaded with battles that ended abruptly. These areas are not significant.

The story is very fast paced. At times it was hard for me to tell what was going on during the many battles. It was O.K. At the end of the audio book there is a chapter or two from Streams of Silver,(the second book in the Icewind Dale Trilogy)which sounded promising.

It was O.K.

I've grown tired of coming of the age stories, so common in the fantasy genre. Back to basics here. Dragons, wizards, monsters and heroes with lofty principles. Drizzt is awesome.

I listen to audible when I’m driving and I often find myself taking the long way home or to my destination just to gain an extra 10min or so of this book. Amazing story and performance, just when you don’t think it can get any better it does. I found myself loving all the main characters regardless or the amount of screen time.

Amazing
