The Hunters picks up right where The Hostage left off.

Two brutal murders and millions of missing dollars in the growing UN/Iraq oil-for-food scandal have led Castillo and his team to an estancia in Uruguay, where the man they seek is murdered right before their eyes. Who is responsible?

Most likely, the people higher up in the dirty-money chain - those willing to risk anything to keep their secrets from being revealed. They've left just enough of a trail, though, for Castillo to pick up the scent. And with carte blanche from the President of the United States to follow it wherever it takes him, he ends up...well, not exactly where he expected.

Critic reviews

"The Castillo novels offer timely plots and enough firepower to keep the action-adventure crowd happy." (Booklist)

"You must admire Dick Hill's smooth, exciting performance as Castillo flits from country to country on his quest. Hill gracefully transitions from character to character, whether German, French, Russian, Spanish, or Hungarian." (AudioFile)

Joseph, get a clue. Each of the "Presidential Agent" books builds on the previous one. Despite the recapitulation with which it starts, this book really depends on the previous ones. I found it absorbing and satisfying, except for some minor points. It's "algorithm," not "logarithm." There were some other bloopers but I didn't take notes. Castillo is tiresomely consumed by self-doubt. His difficulty with keeping his cell phone charged is a bit bizarre.

That said, the locales are exquisitely detailed and the bureaucratic procedure and politics are illuminating. This series of books is for readers who appreciate detail and in-depth portrayal of the missions.

Excellent, but must read in sequence

I liked the book but did think there was too much thinking and explaining going on. Charlie is good so why does he doubt himself. It's clear these guys are focused on their jobs and it's clear that it's a special ops story which is why we keep buying these books. I got tired of their antics but still enjoyed the characters.

Not sure but I think I'll be stopping with this book since the reviews for the next ones are very poor. We'll see. The narrator, Dick Hill, is amazing. He switches accents like a true linguist and makes the story move along. Not sure I'd like reading these books since it is the voices that give it the punch. Kudos to WEB Griffin for his masterly writing.

Active and Engaging But Not As Good As Books 1 & 2

OK -- so I like the Presidential Agent series -- but really -- the first 2 segments of this audio book are an intense recap of previous P-A novels. And then in the 3rd segment, we whip through what's happening so quickly, you want to play it back, because you thought you missed something. It is a really good, interesting story, but the first part goes very slow and the last part goes incredibly fast -- it is somewhat schizophenic. Don't get me wrong -- if you like the P-A series -- you will probably like this, but be prepared for it to switch from low-gear to hi-gear without much notice. W.E.B. could have edited some of the recaps of previous stories and added a few more details of the current story line -- which would have resulted in a more even story line.

Enjoyed this book.story was hard to follow for the first 10 chapters, then it all came together. There were at least four different stories being told, they all came together in the end.
