I love Nicole Poole, but the story was good too. I enjoyed listening to the series

Great narrator and good story

I love this author, this series, this world, and this narrator. This is my second read through of all 4 series. Timewise, this is the first series,then Seven comes next, but I consider the Crossbreed series to be the companion to this one, and I like it even better. Each book is not a standalone, more like a chapter in a giant book. There is so much good banter, amusing analogies, and style of writing that plays like a movie, that there's seldom a dull moment. Pooles narration is stunning. I can't even tell it's her when the males speak. This series ticks all the boxes for me, and so many tropes done masterfully. If you're all about the spice, there isn't a lot, just as much as there needs to be to enhance the story being told.

I love this series. The characters are not overly done stereotypical versions of themselves. They act in unpredictable ways and the Breed culture is unique and fascinating. The openness and emotional vulnerability of the characters is also refreshing. It makes me wish Cognito was a real town.

Not worth the credit to me, Book kept putting me to sleep rather than interest me, I only made it a few hours in and decided it was not for me. Story seems all over the place and is slow moving.
