Money. What if you never had to worry about it again?
In the follow-up to his international bestseller Profit First, entrepreneur and money expert Mike Michalowicz reveals how to achieve financial freedom by working with your natural habits rather than trying to change them. His Profit First model has already helped over a million businesses and entrepreneurs achieve financial independence. Now, with The Money Habit, he brings that proven system to personal finance.
Most financial advice demands strict budgets, sacrifice, and cutting back on life’s joys, yet only 9% of people stick with these approaches. Other systems rely on complex tools or require adopting entirely new behaviors, leading to similarly grim results.
Michalowicz offers a radically simple alternative, guiding you to leverage your existing habits for financial success. By categorizing money into distinct bank accounts, you will instantly gain cash clarity, track spending, and feel empowered, all while maintaining financial responsibility. He provides actionable steps to align your finances with your lifestyle and goals—whether those are to get out of debt, spend some money, save for a big purchase, or plan for the future—illustrated with lessons from his own journey, from losing his first fortune to regaining financial freedom.
The truth is humans have always been wired for financial success, yet we are trying to master methods that work against our natural tendencies. The Money Habit is different: it simply activates what’s already within you. This essential guide delivers a proven, sustainable approach to financial stability, security, and long-term wealth without forcing you to change who you are. All you need to do is activate your money habit.
Additional content from Jean Chatzky, Pete Adeney, Ramit Sethi, Tiffany Aliche, Garrett Gunderson, Chris Guillebeau, Hala Taha, Justin Bennett, J L Collins, and Jack Raines.

If you've ever wished Profit First came in a version your non-entrepreneur friends could actually use, The Money Habit is exactly that. As a partner in a Profit First Professionals firm that serves chiropractors and their practices, I've been recommending Profit First for years — but explaining it to people outside the small business world always required translation. Not anymore. Now I just say, "Read The Money Habit," and they get it immediately.
Mike recording his own audiobooks is a gift. His humor lands, his storytelling pulls you in, and the whole experience feels less like financial education and more like a long conversation with a brilliant, funny friend who genuinely wants your life to change. That warmth carries through every chapter.
What I love most is the structure. Each chapter ends with "Take These Actions" — a shortcut that makes it incredibly easy to implement one thing, return to your life, and come back for the next step when you're ready. It all builds on itself, just like the savings, revenue, and financial freedom you're building will compound over time.
If you own a small business, want to start one — Mike's entire library is a must-have. The Money Habit is the perfect entry point for everyone in your life who's been waiting for a financial book written just for them.

I’ve read and recommended most of his books. Typically when I recommend it comes with a warning- it’s REALLY good but there are a TON of dad jokes that’ll make you cringe - especially the audio version- it’s like he can’t help himself (and you should definitely still listen multiple times).
Not sure if it’s because his kids are grown but this book has very few. Weirdly, and I’m kinda embarrassed to admit it— i missed them (just a little).
Great book 1000% recommend it.
Definitely worth the read.
