A man and a woman with the same name are looking for a fresh start only to discover they have landed the same job in this charming new romance by bestselling author Beth O’Leary.

Charlie couldn’t be happier to take the job of farm-shop manager on the remote, wild Isle of Ormer. She’s grieving, a little lost, and in desperate need of a fresh start.

Jones has come out of a difficult breakup and is looking forward to some peace away from the noise of his city life. Moving to Ormer couldn’t have come at a better time.

But when Charlie Jones and, ahem, Charlie Jones both turn up at Ormer’s one and only farm shop, claiming to have been offered the role of manager, everyone is baffled. How could this have happened? And just who is the real Charlie Jones?

Critic reviews

“Move over, Taylor Lautner(s). This delightful same-name story is sure to tickle readers.”—Swooon

"At once playful, twisty, and achingly raw, The Name Game is Beth O’Leary at her brilliant best. I fell so hard for this book, I know I’ll read it again."—New York Times bestselling author Annabel Monaghan

"The Name Game is O'Leary at her surprising and heart-stopping best. This book has it all. A wild meet-cute, a moody and autumnal setting, but what sets O'Leary apart from other writers of her genre is her ability to handle the best twist you'll read all year."—New York Times bestselling author Gillian McAllister

"So gorgeously life-affirming and heartwarming. I loved it so much, just a complete joy."—Paige Toon, USA Today bestselling author of What If I Never Get Over You

"A fabulous, playful, twisty ride—another clever, fresh take on 'boy meets girl' from O'Leary that ticks every box. She always does that something extra, and when I'm in the mood for dreamy romance, her books top my list every time."—Caroline Hulse, critically acclaimed author of Reasonable People

"Readers will fall in love with Ormer and its residents, who play integral parts in the story, and the plot, which is full of twists and intrigue. This is a perfect read for those who enjoy the voice of Bridget Jones or want their romance with a side of drama."—Booklist

I thoroughly enjoyed the multiple layers of characters and overlapping connections. Written from a different point of view than what I’m used to reading but enjoyed it all the same.

The story had an ongoing mystery, as the romance was building. I loved the many characters and twists and turns.

romance with lots of surprises.

I loved this book, but it was so confusing to follow while listening. It’s hard to know who is talking! It wasn’t until the end I realized one character is actually 2! I thought they were going back and forth in time. But I’m a huge fan of Beth’s- this doesn’t disappoint- especially once I figured out what was going on.

Great, but so confusing to listen to!

On Goodreads this gets a 5. But it is probably even better (and I will be getting) in a physical copy. The male narrators male voice is great, but give. the choice between him doing both male and female or not at all....my vote would be for not at all. He sounds like he hates women. I would, too, if this is what they sounded like.

Love O'Leary, not the nasally narrating

Her last 2 books haven’t been great. I may DNF this one. The story is really weird and all over the place. There is a plot twist that is extremely poorly executed. I would give this one a miss.
