𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐔𝐬 is the first book in the Mission Cove series by Melanie Moreland is a beautifully written, highly emotional second chance at first love for Linc and Sunny. Linc was the prime example of nothing being as it seems. He may have been raised with every material advantage, but he didn’t receive love from his horrible, controlling father. HIs time with his first love, Sunny, was the only bright spot in his life. Their connection was so beautiful, and then he was just gone. Ten years later, they are face-to-face again, and they’ve both changed, but that undeniable connection is still there. I loved their emotional journey through the secrets, the pain, the drama, and the chemistry, to try to determine if the soul-deep love that they still share is enough to sustain a real future. The audio version was narrated by John Lane and Maxine Mitchell, who are always fabulous as a duo, but were especially great as Linc and Sunny, nailing every emotional nuance of this story! I really hope Abby and Michael get a story someday!

I read this story in May 2023 and now on audio was just perfect. And yes I love how John and Maxine narrated Melanie Moreland’s books. Love the comfort they bring me.

This book, this story need to be read, everyone needs Linc and Sunny. They are a really refreshing couple. This second chance romance is going to be one of my favorite, that’s for sure, (I already have the ebook and the paperback copy, I need them forever with me). This story started with them as kids/young and I love how Melanie write them, so real. I love them before and after wow, they growth into a really different adults but meeting again changes everything. Their story is full of emotions, heat and love. I love Linc and Sunny together, the perfect HEA. I want more of Mission Cove and I definitely want to live there, please!

Melanie Moreland pens another wonderful novel, an engaging small-town, second-chance romance that tugs at your heartstrings and tugs real hard. This first book of the “Mission Cove” series is Linc and Sunny’s story, and wow, what a way to start a new series, an emotional rollercoaster like no other. Linc and Sunny were each other’s person growing up, but Linc’s controlling father was rotten to his core, forbidding him from spending too much time with her, and going as far as threatening to ruin her and her family, who had their own hardships. Despite what his father wanted or did not want him to do, he got to spend one summer with her when they both worked at the same summer camp. Their relationship morphed into something even more that summer, their love grew deeper, but then he left in the middle of the night, without a word or a note, and she did not see him until ten years later. It has not been an easy ten years for Linc, thanks to his father, but he paid his dues with vengeance on his mind and built his own fortune and tried to undo some of the damage his father did to people who did not bend for him. After his father’s passing, he returned to Mission Cove to settle his father’s estate and hopefully burn the house down, the home he grew up in, a home filled with awful memories. He was not expecting to reconnect with Sunny again, but they did, and it was clear there were unresolved feelings between them. Sunny brought light back into Linc’s life, and love too, helping him put the heartbreak and hardships behind him and let him see he was nothing like his father. Their beautiful love story, a multi-layered story with a perfect balance of drama, angst, profound emotions, and a romance that was years in the making. As always, the writing, plot, and world-building are fantastic, as are the complexity of the characters, their growth and development. Melanie Moreland, thank you for another fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful audiobook listen, Maxine Mitchell and John Lane did a fabulous job voicing the characters and delivering a perfect portrayal of each. I loved how they took each role and made it their own, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters to sound. Both were naturals in the two lead roles, with Mitchell as Sunny and Lane as Linc, grasping every aspect of their characters’ personalities, as well as their every emotion, delivering a moving performance. These two make a fantastic narration team, and their entertaining performance not only elevates this already wonderful story to another level but it captivates your attention the entire time.

My heart is so full after listening to this audiobook. John and Maxine has once again transported me into the story wholly. I was in Mission Cove experiencing the journey of Linc and Sunny’s second chance romance. From young love to rekindling a love that never faded. My heart was swooning. John’s voice, as always, was engaging and was perfectly suited for Linc’s character. His deep, velvety voice had me captivated. Maxine’s warm and melodic dulcet was pleasant to the ear. And was how I imagined Sunny would sound. This beautifully written journey of first love had me in my feels. The obstacles these characters navigated to get to their second chance at a happily ever after had me from the opening credits. These narrators never cease to amaze me with their stellar performance and narrating skills. And with this audio not duet you could see the amazing job the audio production did piecing this seamlessly together. John and Maxine make listening to dual narration on point when they take on the role of the opposite sex. A must listen to audiobook! Get ready to feel all the feels with this low-angst, second chance romance.

Linc has known Sunny most of his life. They had one summer together that was torn apart by Linc’s father. Years later they meet again and needless to say Sunny was angry with him until she finds out what truly happened. They never forgot each other and they never stopped loving one another. It’s a happy ending for Linc and Sunny.
