BL Maxwell
Marlon Byrne was born long ago in a distant country, but for close to a century he’s been buried deep in the ground in the small town of Occident. He’d grown lonely, and the prospect of living out his existence with a mate was too hard to ignore. Which is how he ended up in a grave in the cemetery.
Blake Miller has listened to his grandfather talk about the vampire buried with his treasure of gold for as long as he can remember. One night he enlists his friend Aaron, to finally put those stories to rest.
What they discover that night is far different than either of them imagined. Blake faces a series of unwanted events that he cannot resist and is helpless to ignore. The life he knows is over, but the alternative may cost him more than a little blood.

This story has a great premise of a long buried vampire and buried treasure. Blake's grandfather has been telling him a tale for years about this vampire and a treasure of gold. One night, he and his best friend decide to dig up the vampire and see if the tall tales were true. What could possibly go wrong?!?
This book could easily be turned into a series and I would definitely be interested in reading or listening to more.
Vampire/human, starved for years, opposites attract, age gap 700+ years, a crafty child vampire, a best friend, an unlikely friendship
"He was weird and dangerous, but there was just something about him."

Grandpa Joseph has regaled Blake and Aaron with tales of treasure hidden for a few generations. The two fool hardy young men venture to finding the treasure only to uncovered an almost century buried vampire Marlon betrayed by a member of Blake's family tree from back in the wagon train days.
Uncovering Marlon's casket sparks an adventure that includes confronting the villainous Josiah, who still is around. BL Maxwell challenges typical vampire norms. There are a few scenes of detailed MM intimate encounters interspersed through the unfolding of current events. I only mention this as a warning for those who might be offended at its inclusion.
Guy Veryzer as the narrator is the perfect choice with his gravelly aged voice to embody Marlon the centuries old vampire. He does an excellent job changing his voice for this all male characters book so that the listener clearly knows who us speaking. It makes for an enjoyable six and a half hour listening experience.
