The visitors Whitley Strieber described in his best seller Communion have not gone away. They have remained to inhabit the former skeptic's new vision of a universe that is magnificent, mysterious, and fiercely alive. They were buried under denial and false assurance, but now they are emerging and are nothing less than agents of his transformation - and perhaps the transformation of our world. During the events described here and those he chronicled in Communion, Strieber underwent a battery of examinations, including a lie detector test, which he passed. All results indicate that his experiences were not caused by a known psychological or physiological disorder. This riveting account is read by veteran actor Roddy McDowall.

I would highly recommend this book. It's full of experiences and realizations that would change anyone. Impossible to understand in a way these visitors are, but also fantastically interesting and daunting.

I will be listening to it again.

Worth the time to listen.

It was good but I had hard time following story because I was too distracted by the narrators voice.

I like Whitley strieber’s books. They are interesting and believable and he is a great story teller. However, this one had the wrong narrator and it was distracting. By the time I got used to it and decided to finish the book, it ended. The narrator seems talented but in a stage actor way. He seemed to be yarning a child’s fairytale not a non fiction.
The book is so short that I wouldn’t waste a credit on it.

a really good intro to The Supernatural.
see this man's evolution in thinking about
the true nature of the "visitors".

Whitley at his best!

What did you love best about Transformation?

Strieber is an excellent writer, and his talent comes through in the narration. Further, the narration is absolutely perfect. You can listen for long hours without any strain or annoyance. Rarely do you get excellent prose married to excellent narration like you do in Transformation.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Transformation?

The frightening lack of any conclusion. The inability to come to any firm conclusion about these creatures and their "visits." This book leaves you wide-eyed, unsettled, and loading your gun.

What about Roddy McDowall’s performance did you like?

Oh, man, there are so few readers as skilled as McDowall. He brings Strieber's book to life perhaps BETTER than you could by reading the prose yourself. Perfect intonation. An accurate feel for the subject matter. Always emotionally invested in the work without becoming corny or melodramatic.

What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?

These creatures are not simply physical. They are not simply good or evil. And they are not our friends nor are enemies, it seems.
