A young man who has improbably escaped death twice reveals his secret in a spine-tingling short story by New York Times bestselling author Joe Hill.

Martin Lorensen is a twenty-three-year-old counselor for disturbed teenagers. He’s bright, compassionate, attractive, and outgoing. He’s also—and this is the most interesting thing—not dead. Martin has improbably survived not one but two deadly disasters that claimed dozens of lives. The kid is riding one hell of a lucky streak. Two federal agents think there is something darker at play. Now that they’ve arranged to interview Martin, they want answers. Martin is ready to share everything he knows. One thing is for certain: when it comes to escaping death, luck doesn’t figure into it at all.

Joe Hill is a great story teller. This extra short story had me hooked. I wish it had been a full length novel.

If only it were longer.

Well paced, chills at the end. Cover art is a bit of a spoiler. It was short but evolved nicely. Ending kind of predictable once you got close, but it worked. Creative and interesting.

Did guess the end near the end, but fun anyway. I am glad I listened.

Fun 1-hr story.

I FIND THIS TO BE THE perfect length, AND THE most perfect level of suspense. I enjoyed every minute.

I'm rocked

This was the right length for a short drive. It holds your attention, and keeps it the whole way as the story unfolded. It started to be a bit predictable by the end, but that’s how it was supposed to be. It a worthy, easy read that is interesting and suspenseful the whole time.

Short and very sweet
