From New York Times best-selling author Joanne DeMaio comes a heartwarming novel as beautiful as a home aglow for the holidays.

Home, for Joel Briggs, is the old New England farmhouse on winter road. From the front porch, he listens to the barred owls or watches the towering Christmas tree lit up in the yard. It's a quiet road, kind of like his life. Quiet.

Until Faye Weston walks right into it. What begins as a chance encounter one bittersweet winter night turns into a cherished friendship. A friendship that neither wants to jeopardize. Yet they do. Unless, like the Christmas season asks, they choose to believe–not only in their friendship, but in the winding road of their love story.

This is my first read by this author. Somehow, I started with the last book in the series. Oh well. I enjoyed this book, but it was a slow start for me. In the beginning, Faye does some complaining about her circumstances. I thought...oh no, here we go.. a whining heroine But that is not the case. Yes, she does complain some, but its over quickly. What I loved about this book is that it is EASY. What do I mean? In a world of war talks, high inflation and uncertainty, this story was what I needed. It has no high stress circumstances. Just a lot of great writing. I also liked the way the author described the town and people. I wanted to be there! This is a slow burn romance. My favorite. It has a real 'When Harry Met Sally' feel. The love scene is more than closed door, but no descriptive words used. Its a clean read, for sure. I really liked this book despite the slow start. The narrator is great. I've already purchased the first book in the series, even though we are more than a month after Christmas. Highly recommend.

This was a pleasant holiday story, but not nearly as complex as most of the other books.

Wonderful story...interesting New Year's tradition...it was nice to see someone with a lack of confidence decide to "go for it". Patience and encouragement pay off in this winter celebration

‘Winter Road’ takes us down the sometimes bumpy and stalled road in a year of Faye and Joel lives. As the months go by and their friendship grows could there be something between them, or will their past lives intrude?
The author’s writing depicts the wonderful town of Addison and a special couple who delight in, and enjoy some of the simple pleasures of listening for night eagles and watching snowflakes falling silently in the night as their friendship grows.
I received an early copy of this heartfelt book from the author and this review is my honest opinion.
