Rhoma Grace is a 16-year-old student from House Cancer with an unusual way of reading the stars. While her classmates use measurements to make accurate astrological predictions, she looks up at the night sky and makes up stories.

When a violent blast strikes the moons of Cancer, sending its ocean planet off-kilter and killing thousands of citizens - including its beloved Guardian - Rho is more surprised than anyone when she is named the House's new leader. Then, when more Houses fall victim to freak weather catastrophes, Rho starts seeing a pattern in the stars. She suspects the exiled 13th Guardian of Zodiac has returned to exact his revenge across the Galaxy.

Now Rho must travel through the Zodiac to warn the other Guardians. But who will believe anything this young novice says? Whom can Rho trust in a universe defined by differences? And how can she convince 12 worlds to unite as one Zodiac?

okay first things first: i did like the book and will get book two. really good ideas that lacked a little in execution. some editing or rounding out of parts would have made this book exceptional. pros and cons below.

pros
-world building is fun and inventive
-good ideas. like brilliant ideas
-fast paced action driven story

cons
-character development lacks substance
-annoying love interest detracts from plot
-parts were lacking... this book could have been a real winner with some more details on parts.

Solid escape to another world

In the beginning I was not sure I would make it through this book that was picked for or book club, but in chapter 2 or 3, I had an increased interest. This is not my normal type of book, but did have an interesting story line, I was not crazy about the ending, but it was still a decent read. The Narrative was very well done, I doubt I would search for the sequel but if you like galactic novels, sci-fi and teenage love stories, this is right up your alley.

It builds as it goes.

There's very few stories that really capture my full attention these days. As an amateur astronomer, when I saw the cover for Zodiac it immediately caught my attention. I originally purchased the book on my Kindle just a few days after its release on Amazon. Needless to say once I started reading it I couldn't stop. Romina Russell creates this entire universe of different worlds and characters that are truly unique. This story has it all. Action, adventure, romance, etc.

Centered around 16 year old Rhoma Grace from the constellation Cancer, Zodiac takes you on a whirlwind tour through the Zodiac Galaxy. Meeting many people from each of the houses. My personal favorite being Hysan Dax from house Libra.

After reading the book initially, I decided to download the audio version. I make long distance trips quiet often and enjoy listening to a book while driving. Rebecca Gibel does a fantastic job narrating the story. She brings to life an already amazing story.

Beware the 13th sign!
