A lazy and wussy ex-gamer, Phil becomes one of the few humans who receive a mysterious alien piece of wetware that allows them to see the world through an augmented-reality interface very similar to those used in an MMORPG game. Guided by its stats and messages, Phil begins to level up, gradually transforming himself and his life. He even opens his own business in order to help his friends and complete strangers who acquire a newfound respect for him, assisting him in his travails.

Unity is strength, but the path of a hero is often traveled alone, especially when friends, comrades and allies have been lost. The weight of responsibility is overwhelming, and there is so much at stake that one might feel compelled to howl at the moon Geala. Little does he know, he's about to stumble upon an item that will make the game's elite players stop at nothing to take him down…

But this is just one of many problems; the Sleeping God has another impossible quest for them.

Alex Sheppard returns to the real world only to realize that it's game over for him. At the age of sixteen, he's destroyed the carefully laid plans of the most powerful people in the world, incurring their wrath. Now they're thirsting for his blood, and they know where to find him. The criminal Triad, the two-faced Cartel, the hypocritical preventers were child's play, nothing more. But he has to operate outside the law now his sworn enemies rule the planet.
