Raja Shehadeh is a Palestinian lawyer and writer whose latest book is Strangers in the House: Coming of Age in Occupied Palestine. He is a founder of the nonpartisan human rights organization Al-Haq, an affiliate of the International Commission of Jurists, and author of several books about international law, human rights and the Middle East.

He'll discuss the Bush administration's economic plan, including the tax break on stock dividends. Michael Chiklis stars as maverick cop Del Vik Mackey in the FX channel drama series The Shield. British comedian, stand-up performer, and actor Eddie Izzard on this edition of Fresh Air. Izzard is currently selling out venues in the U.S. and Canada with his new stand-up show Circle. He has won over fans with his quirky comedy and his cross-dressing. The Chicago Tribune says, "Izzard lives up to his billing. He's very bright, very fast, and very hip."

Actor Patrick Warburton and composer Aaron Jay Kernis on this edition of Fresh Air. Patrick Warburton's best known for his recurring role on Seinfeld as Elaine's laconic boyfriend, Puddy. Though he only appeared in nine episodes, he became one of the show's favorite characters. Warburton currently stars in the new FOX show The Tick. He could also be heard as the voice of Joe on Fox's animated series The Family Guy.

Hear Pulitzer-prize-winning journalist David Halberstam and music critic Milo Miles on this edition of Fresh Air. Halberstam died yesterday from injuries received in a car crash. He was 73. We listen to his interviews on Fresh Air, from 1985 and from June 3, 1993, and January 21, 1999. Halberstam was part of the 1964 Pulitzer-prize winning team that covered the emerging war in Vietnam for The New York Times.

Political Analyst Alan Schroeder on this edition of Fresh Air. Alan Schroeder's new book Presidential Debates: Forty Years of High-Risk TV, examines the history of the televised presidential debate. Drawing from his experience as a print journalist and TV producer, he details the decisions that influence every aspect of the event: the color of the backdrop curtain to the camera angles chosen.

Former CIA agent Milt Bearden on this edition of Fresh Air. Milt Bearden spent 30 years in the CIA. He ran the CIA's covert operations in Afghanistan during the Soviet invasion and helped train the Afghan freedom fighters. Bearden also was station chief in Pakistan, Moscow, and Khartoum. He received the CIA's highest honor, the Distinguished Intelligence Medal. Since the September 11th attacks, Bearden has been a frequent commentator on TV and in print.

Writer and historian Jay Winik and a day in the life of journalist Andrew Kromah on this edition of Fresh Air. Winik's new book, a best seller, is April 1865. He writes that April 1865 is a month that "could have unraveled the American nation. Instead it saved it." During that month, the Civil War ended with Lee's surrender, Lincoln was assassinated, and the rebuilding of the nation began.

Novelist Alice Sebold and comedian and late night talk show host Jay Leno on this edition of Fresh Air. Alice Sebold's the author of the book, The Lovely Bones which will be coming out in paperback. Fresh Air book critic Maureen Corrigan listed The Lovely Bones as one of the ten best books of 2002. Sebold is also the author of the memoir, Lucky.

A discussion about the pros and cons of the electoral college system and non-traditional voting on this edition of Fresh Air. Curtis Gans, an expert on voter turnout and participation, supports the electoral process. He is the director of the Committee for the Study of the American Electorate, a non-partisan group which analyzes the habits of voters. Akhil Amar is Southmayd Chair of Constitutional Law at Yale Law School.

Former New York Times Balkans Bureau Chief and Middle East Bureau Chief Chris Hedges on this edition of Fresh Air. Hedges is currently living in New York. He's covered war zones in Central America, the Middle East, and the Balkans for more than 20 years and is the author of the new book, War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning.

On this edition of Fresh Air, host Terry Gross talks with Iranian born novelist Salar Abdoh, author of The Poet Game. It's a fictitious account of an Iranian secret agent sent to New York City to investigate rumored terrorist plots, in the wake of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Plus, FBI special agent Christopher Whitcomb. He was part of the bureau's hostage rescue team. Whitcomb participated in the missions at Waco, Ruby Ridge and Kosovo.

Journalists Sebastian Junger and Charles Sennott on this edition of Fresh Air. Sebastian Junger's just returned from Afghanistan where he was traveling with the Northern Alliance. Last year,he was also in Afghanistan following Ahmad Shah Massoud, (known as the "Lion of Panjshir"), the legendary leader of the guerrilla war against the Soviets, who had been fighting the Taliban.

Journalists Lou Michel and Dan Herbeck and veteran broadcaster and executive producer of 60 Minutes, Don Hewitt, on this edition of Fresh Air. Michel and Herbeck are staff writers for The Buffalo News. The two have collaborated on the new book American Terrorist: Timothy McVeigh & the Oklahoma City Bombing. Michel lived 20 minutes away from McVeigh's father, and over time, he developed a relationship with the elder McVeigh, which in turn helped him gain access to his son.

The Shield creator Shawn Ryan, actress C.C.H. Pounder, and film critic David Edelstein are the guests on this edition of Fresh Air. Shawn Ryan is the creator and writer for the critically acclaimed FX drama The Shield. It just began its sixth season. (Original Airdate: 3/14/06)
