Many people enjoy collecting things. But what happens when their "collections" grow out of control? People who have a psychological disorder called hoarding may let their teddy bear collections or garbage collections take over their entire homes! Their obsessive and compulsive acquiring of junk, collectibles, and everyday items may result in their homes becoming uninhabitable. Many hoarders' homes are even condemned!

Many listeners email me each day. They typically have problems with the men in their lives. The truth that most of them don't realize is that their emotionally unavailable man or narcissistic man has an undiagnosed syndrome, complex, or disorder. Men often don't seek diagnoses for these issues that have been an ingrained part of their personality since they were born. They want acceptance and a sense of belonging from their partners, and they are often as unable to get these things from his partner as she is unable to get emotional validation from him.

If you are feeling this way, my friend, there is a simple explanation. You may be dating or married to a narcissist. Your self-absorbed partner may be gaslighting and manipulating you. He may cycle between love-bombing and distancing himself from you. He seems to be a nice guy to your face sometimes, but then you find out that he is talking bad about you to others. He seems to triangulate you with other women or family members in order to make you jealous and boost his own ego.

Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is known to be a condition in which people usually have hypermobile joints and stretchy skin. This is what physicians generally look for when they are considering EDS diagnoses. The truth is that EDS can present in many different ways. There are many different types and forms of EDS, and they affect very different parts of a person's body. A physician who looks for only two signs is missing the big picture of the family history and the patient's symptoms in relation to an EDS diagnosis.

People can have both; however, OCPD is a pervasive condition that affects the person's entire life and all interactions. A person with OCPD may justify their rigidity and inflexibility using the morals and values their family instilled in them.

Many people have heard about the Peter Pan Syndrome. Dr. Dan Kiley used the term in his book The Peter Pan Syndrome: Men Who Have Never Grown Up. He fondly referred to the women who were involved with these Peter Pan types as Wendy, Wendy Complex, or Wendy Syndrome. Wendy is the character in the Peter Pan story who falls head over heels hopelessly and romantically in love with Peter Pan, even though he will never be a suitable partner for her.
