The Interpretation of Dreams is the book that Sigmund Freud considered his most important and that forever changed the way we think about our dreams. Here, Freud explained his discoveries about why we dream, what we dream, and what our dreams mean. In this groundbreaking work, Freud further demonstrated that it is in the treatment of abnormal mental states that dream analysis is the most valuable. He claimed that dreams not only reveal to us the cryptic mechanisms of phobias, obsessions, and delusions but also are the most potent weapon in the healing of them.

This 1920 essay by Sigmund Freud is considered to be one of his most complex writings. "Beyond the Pleasure Principle" marks a major departure in his theoretical approach. Freud had previously attributed most human behaviour to the sexual instinct (Eros or libido). In this essay, he went beyond the pleasure principle by adding the death drive (thanatos) as another instigator of human behavior.

According to Freud, the individual in a mass movement acquires a sense of infinite power to act on impulses that would otherwise have been restrained in the individual. "Totem and Taboo: Resemblances Between the Mental Lives of Savages and Neurotics" is a work by Sigmund Freud, published in German in 1913. It is a collection of four essays first published in the journal "Imago" (1912-13), employing the application of psychoanalysis to the fields of archaeology, anthropology, and the study of religion.

En este trabajo, Freud resume sus discusiones más tempranas sobre el tema del narcisismo y considera su lugar en el desarrollo sexual. Por otra parte mira a los problemas más profundos de la relación entre el yo y los objetos externos, estableciendo una nueva distinción entre «libido yoica» y «libido objetal». Lo más importante es que introduce la idea del «ideal del yo» y la instancia de autoobservación relacionada con ella.
