The Shunned House is a horror fiction novelette by American author H.P. Lovecraft, written on October 16–19, 1924. It was first published in the October 1937 issue of Weird Tales. For many years, the narrator and his uncle, Dr. Elihu Whipple, have nurtured a fascination with an old abandoned house on Benefit Street. Dr. Whipple has made extensive records tracking the mysterious, yet apparently coincidental, sickness and death of many who have lived in the house for over one hundred years.

Finding a house on the back roads of New England near Arkham in a storm in H.P. Lovecraft's time might seem a bit of luck. This is, until you discover the ancient text that tended to fall open to itself at Plate XII, which represented in gruesome detail a butcher's shop of the cannibal Anziques, followed by a heavy tread upstairs when you thought the house was empty. Walter Gilman, a student of mathematics and folklore at Miskatonic University, rents an attic room in the "Witch House", a house in Arkham, Massachusetts that is rumored to be cursed. The house once harboured Keziah Mason, an accused witch who disappeared mysteriously from a Salem jail in 1692.

The story revolves around a young man who becomes obsessed with an abandoned crypt. Originally built to house the members of a powerful local family, the crypt was abandoned after a fire consumed the family’s home and compelled them to move away. Despite living in the local area and having an entirely different surname, the narrator of the story claims some spurious relation to the powerful family. With this obsession ingrained he starts to spend his nights loitering outside the crypt and dreaming up ways of gaining access.

When his ship is torpedoed by a German U-Boat during World War I, a man is taken prisoner by the Germans. Later, he escapes from the U-Boat to the sea, where he discovers a vast body of land, previously submersed on the Pacific Ocean floor, recently ripped from it through some geological upheaval, and bearing evidence that a highly intelligent, monstrous, race shares dominion of the Earth with humanity, and for the moment exercising it's rule only on the ocean floor.

The Temple is a short story written by H. P. Lovecraft in 1920, and first published in the pulp magazine Weird Tales #24 in September 1925. The premise is that a person in a given place and time can switch bodies with someone who is elsewhere or elsewhen. Other writers have re-used this concept in later works, such as drinking tea from Red Forest leaves in the television series 12 Monkeys and long-range communication stones in the Stargate SG-1 television series.

"Herbert West -Reanimator" is a horror short story by American writer H. P. Lovecraft. It was written between October 1921 and June 1922. It was first serialized in February through July 1922 in the amateur publication Home Brew. The story is the first to mention Lovecraft's fictional Miskatonic University. It is also one of the first depictions of zombies as scientifically reanimated corpses, with animalistic and uncontrollable temperaments.

Supernatural Horror in Literature is a essay by American writer H. P. Lovecraft, surveying the development and achievements of horror fiction as the field stood in the 1920s and 30s. The essay was researched and written between November 1925 and May 1927, first published in August 1927, and then revised and expanded during 1933–1934. Lovecraft's essay ranges widely, but he first examines the beginnings of weird fiction in the early gothic novel.

The story is recounted by the protagonist, Count Antoine de C, in the first person. Hundreds of years ago, Antoine's noble ancestor was responsible for the death of a dark wizard, Michel Mauvais. The wizard's son, Charles le Sorcier, swore revenge on not only him but all his descendants, cursing them to die on reaching the age of 32. The protagonist recounts how his ancestors all died in some mysterious way around the age of 32. The line has dwindled and the castle has been left to fall into disrepair, tower by tower.

"The Outsider" is one of Lovecraft's earliest and creepiest stories. A man exists alone in a mysterious dark castle, with no memory of how or why he is there. One day he decides to climb the highest tower in the hope of seeing the sky...and in doing so briefly learns the terrible, ghastly, unbearable truth....

Award winning-narrator Mike Vendetti takes us to an old church in Providence, Rhode Island, where H. P. Lovecraft dedicates this horror story to Robert Bloch, who has killed Lovecraft's character in "The Shambler to the Stars". Lovecraft repays the favor by killing off Robert Harrison Blake (aka Robert Bloch).
