A new future unfolds. After a harrowing escape from Urslay, the city of giants, Nath, Brenwar, and Selene find themselves in the sanctuary of the Elven Field of Dreams. The solitude and peace in the lush land offers refreshing waters but that does not last long. The wilder elves, guardians of the sanctuary, take Nath and company prisoner as he stands accused of murder. Bewildered by the accusation, Nath searches for the truth only to have Fang stolen while he lies abandoned in an inescapable prison.

Finding themselves neck-deep in a battle with the warmers, Nath and company seek to vanquish Nalzambor's greatest threat...the Titans. Eckubahn the Titan will stop at nothing to destroy the dragons and take over mankind. With the aid of the faerie Empress Lotuus, they rally the dragon-hating giants. In the meantime, Nath, Selene, Brenwar, Bayzog and Ben have their hands full battling one hive of warmers after another. The new menace is spreading too fast and dragon casualties are stacking up.

The newly full-fledged members of Talon, the brothers Grey Cloak and Dyphestive, are faced with a decision. Seeking greener pastures will surely bring about pain and suffering, but Grey Cloak wants no part of his new role in the secret dragon war. So he pushes his reluctant brother to move on, and the brazen youths are determined to keep their dark secret to themselves while seeking a fortune of their own.

With the dragon king Balzurth, dead at the hands of the titans Eckubahn and Isobahn, it's up to Nath Dragon to take his father's throne. The task makes him uneasy as he must lead the dragons against the evil forces of the titans and wurmers. Inside his gut, Nath knows that something is wrong. How can he be the dragon king when he can't even turn into a dragon himself? His doubts continue to consume him.

As Venir struggles to survive the wrath of the underlings, Fogle Boon the Wizard and Mood the Blood Ranger continue the search for their missing comrade. But how will they find a man that completely disappeared from Bish without a trace? Back in the City of Bone, Melegal the thief is pushed to the limits under the thumb of the powerful Royal Lord Almen.

Smoke, Sid, Abraham, and their allies see the writing on the wall. They have one focus—use Boon’s portals to seek and destroy their foes before it’s too late. But the unpredictable portals bring trouble as people from other worlds arrive, posing nefarious problems. Mood the Blood Ranger and Fogle Boon have traveled deep into the bitter cold of the Nameless Mountains in hopes of finding a druid that can provide a cure for the dying two-headed dog, Chongo. But the mountains are full of dangers and surprises that even the brilliant mind of the mage Fogle Boon could never have anticipated.

Under the watchful eye of his friends?Brenwar the Dwarf, Shum the Elven Rover, Bayzog the part-Elf wizard, and Sasha the sorceress? Nath finds himself wanting to test his set of two Dragon arms. The Clerics of Barnabus are after Nath Dragon, tracking his every move.

Brenwar Bolderguild begins his search of Nalzambor to find Nath, who has escaped his supervision. Nath's father had warned Brenwar not to lose Nath because losing Nath to evil will trigger the next Dragon War. There's more. Who has taken over in Quinley, and why are there elves in Quintucklen?

The vengeful fighter takes his quest to heart. Reunited, Nath and his father, Balzurth, become closer.

The growing menace of dragons continues to terrorize the streets of Washington D.C. as citizens turn up dead and disappear without explanation. When a mysterious shifter shows up with information about the immense power of the Lord Master, Smoke and Sid search in the mines of Virginia, only to stumble upon a deadly surprise. Meanwhile, armed with new weaponry, Abraham Jenkins and Sticks return to the now-abandoned Load Breaker and open a can of worms.
