Children are not supposed to rescue their parents, life is supposed to be the other way around. And rescues aren't supposed to be needed on the trip out to the new colony planet Valhalla. Slow, yes. Boring, yes. Dangerous? No, the trip is not supposed to be dangerous, never has been.

When thieves attack the transport ship to steal an ancient alien artifact, and young Kaylee and her brother, Manny, are cut off from their parents, they have to stop the thieves from getting what they want, because once the thieves have the artifact, they're not leaving any witnesses.

Craig Alanson is one of my favorite writers. This story is certainly different from the last series I read of his, but, absolutely, no less entertaining.
MacLeod Andrews was new to me, and I look forward to his performance in the next book in this series, as I enjoyed his work, very much.

Sci-Fi with Kids, and I Enjoyed it, a Lot

Certainly a boom that is safe for kids, it there lies my reservations. It was kind of boring for an adult.

With that said I do love the Expeditionary Force! Just finished with the 12th installment and loved each book enough to where I am gonna listen to all television again.

Thanks Craig!

Good, but...

This definitely seemed geared toward younger readers. Not badly written, but definitely more juvenile than Expeditionary Force. I think I'll stick with that series.

Target audience is younger YA (6th - 8th grade)

good book for maybe 8-15 year olds. but I still enjoyed it as an adult.

If you’re hoping for an expeditionionary force quality book, this is not going to happen. Hard to believe it’s the same author honestly. It’s a good kids book but ... well not what I was hoping for I’ll just say.

Not what I was expecting
