would have loved to hear more about the characters motivation. other than a slow start, the story hooked me most of the time. it had an up/down quality to the plot. would have preferred a consistent pace

I really like this series and the overall storyline, but this book left a lot of questions unanswered at the end. It felt like some important details were missing, which made the conclusion a little frustrating.

I have totally enjoyed D.D. Black’s police and FBI series. The characters are well developed, believable people, and I care what happens to them. So many authors, today, write unlikeable characters that I struggle to root for. Black creates interesting, likable characters struggling through personal challenges and complicated relationships while solving unusual cases. Black does a good job balancing the human dynamics and crime solving aspects of the stories.
