I really enjoyed this book but the narrator was terrible. I found myself making fun of his vocalization he was all over the place, funny at first but became so annoying and distracting. I loved the narrator for Dead Man's Walk sure wish he could have narrated this one. Would have given 5 stars but for the narration.

I disliked the movie so much, that I never even thought about the book for quite sometime. Though as usual, once I checked the book out, I found that it was extremely interesting, and again, as usual, the movie couldn't hold a candle to the book! If you liked "Lonesome Dove", you'll love this book, as it is yet another saga in the series of Gus & Captain Call that preceeds Lonesome Dove. It gives the full background on "Blue Duck", the loathsome character who stole Lorena, and abused her severely in Lonesome Dove.

I got this book to hear Frank Muller and knew nothing about Lonesome dove. My advice would be to start at "Dead Man's Walk", the prequel to this book. But this book did stand on it's own feet.

Once I got used to the narrator it wasn't horrible but it wasn't great. The story is, as always, with Larry incredible.
