Rina Kent
From USA Today best-selling author Rina Kent comes a new stand-alone dark romance about a villain and his new obsession.
I caught the attention of a monster.
I didn’t ask for it. Didn’t even see it coming.
But the moment I do, it’s too late.
Killian Carson is a predator wrapped in sophisticated charm.
He’s cold-blooded, manipulative, and savage.
The worst part is that no one sees his devil side.
I do.
And that will cost me everything.
I run, but the thing about monsters?
They always chase.
This book is a dark unconventional romance and contains themes that aren't to everyone's liking. Please check the author's note in the ebook for content warnings before listening.

I didn't care for this one. Maybe if I had read the book first, it would be a higher rating. I think the narration was poor. I couldn't stand Glyndon's voice and Killian's voice was just too mature (and I love Sebastian York).
The story wasn't bad. There were some sketchy things going on with certain acts that some will definitely not like, but aren't unusual for dark reads. But I just didn't care enough about most of the characters.
If I ever get my hands on a copy, I will read it and maybe my rating will go up. Until then a 3 it is.

This book was DARK. And it took me a minute to get into it. And honestly, there were a few times I had to pick up something else because the themes are triggering. It starts off extremely heavy and I would say it stays that way. So if you are not in the right place for it, this book could be a heavy lift emotionally.
(This book is a standalone in the Legacy of Gods series)
•plot•
Glyndon is an emotional artist who watched her friend commit suicide. She struggles with suicidal thoughts because her mother is a successful artist and she doesn't feel she can measure up to her mother's success. While at the site of her friend's death, a psychopath (no other way to describe him) stumbles upon her and forces himself on her. She tries to get over it and returns to her university only to find herself faced with her assailant who also happens to be her brothers' enemy.
•characters and world•
Can I say that I was a little bit overwhelmed by all the characters and the world she built around them? There were so many names to remember and note that I felt like I was getting the males a bit confused. But I know that was Rina queuing up the next couples/next books in the series. I didn't dislike it, but maybe it could have been a bit simpler.
Things I liked: discussion around mental health issues like depression, suicide, and psychopathic tendencies gave depth to the characters. These are serious, real-world, triggering challenges that people face and the author spent a lot of time on this.
Things that I struggled with: the shift from non-con, assault to a full-on relationship
TW: suicide, non-con, dub-con, rape, hunting, violence, depression, psychopathy
