Though she is free of the palace, rescued from her position as a blood slave, Aria is haunted by the memories of her time spent within the fortress, tormented by memories of Braith, the prince that betrayed her and shattered her heart.

Every day is a struggle to get through, and the only solace she is able to find is with Max, her best friend, and fellow captive.

Though Max does not understand her bond to Braith, he knows some of what she endured, and helps to ease some of the tattered pieces of her soul. Aria slowly begins to salvage the broken parts of her wounded spirit by throwing herself into the wonder of the woods she had so greatly missed, and the secure and reassuring love that Max freely gives her.

Her world is thrown into a tailspin again though when a marauding group of vampires destroy the caves she had found temporary shelter in. Scattered about the forest, seeking to stay hidden and find her family, Aria is stunned when Braith, the monster that savaged her heart, reappears. Stunned by his sudden arrival in her world, Arianna is uncertain if he has come to recapture her, or to kill her for daring to escape.

I did not want to like this as much as I did as i didnt want to have to buy the 3rd and 4th books. the first book was soso, mah with soft plot building. This had great build and deveopment of the larger plot that held me. I was hoping for vampire smut and got 900 year old vamp blood bonding with 17 year old forest rebel. The only penetration is teeth in flesh but the scenes are done well. I can appreciate holding off on sex with an 883 year age difference but its going to happen at some point with the blood bond...right!?

Just like previous reviewers, the beginning was the best part. There was more information given in this book I.e the reason behind the war. I agree with others that there is a lot of inward commentary that could be cut. I also am getting annoyed by the redundant description of Ariana's looks or the redundant explanation of guilt about being max into blood slave trade with her, etc.
Overall the storyline was ok.

What about Luci Christian’s performance did you like?

The narrator did a nice job.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Not really. I wanted to listen to it, but it was not one that I could not put down.

Nice Paranormal
